Located in downtown Los Angeles, Redbird is carved into one of the city’s most historic edifices, inside the rectory building of Vibiana – a premier wedding, events and performing arts venue. Chef Neal Fraser with Amy Knoll Fraser have crafted a beautifully dynamic restaurant space within which to enjoy Chef Fraser's critically acclaimed Modern American menu.

"We had a fine dinner on a busy Sunday evening at Redbird, eating in the outdoor section of the converted old cathedral. Highlights were the sweet and sour pear salad and the Red Wattle Pork loin, just about the best pork that I have ever tasted. It even provided lunch for us the next day. An interesting touch was the "Amuse Booze," a Campari concoction with simple syrup, to start things off.
The service was very good, the vibe is hip and the noise level was high. Two caveats: the pricing shown on Open Table is $30 and below. Not so: $30-$50 is the proper category. Also, we were put off by a strange 3% surcharge which the server explained is an automatic addition to enable employees to have health insurance. Rather than debate in a busy setting, we simply tipped 3% less."

Dobson's Bar and Restaurant is a hidden treasure in the heart of Downtown San Diego/Gaslamp Quarter. For the last 30 years, this has been the hot spot for business lunches and frequented by many local and nationwide celebrities. Paul Dobson, the namesake for Dobson's bar and restaurant, is one of America's few professional Bullfighters. The food is California cuisine with a touch of Italian, French, Spanish and Asian cuisine. One thing that both local San Diegans and Zagat can agree on is that this is one of the top restaurants in San Diego. Due to the limited seating and popularity, reservations are highly recommended. Owner Paul Dobson "works a room better than Sinatra", which explains why this "local tradition" downtown remains, "after all these years", a "high-powered, hobnob spot"; the Cal kitchen "serves up delicious, innovative food, along with old standbys" ("have the mussel bisque and think of heaven").

"We like Dobson's for pre-theater or pre-opera and because their mussel bisque en croute is the best appetizer in all of Southern California, and maybe in the entire country. One of these days, I'll order three and make it my meal! Our salmon and ravioli entree were both very good as well."

"Had what will be our final meal at Tapenade's current location and it was excellent. By the time we return next winter, they will have relocated to Girard St., but we anticipate the same wonderful food. This meal included foie gras, the halibut special and wild boar pappardelle, accompanied by a good Bordeaux Merlot blend. Dessert was a light Baba au Rhum that provided a nice finish to a fine meal. We look forward to next winter in the new location."

Chez Pierre Bistro is an authentic French Bistro, one everybody wishes they had in their neighborhood. Most of the dining is in the charming covered patio where the ambiance is intimate, friendly and always very professional. Prepared by Chef Pierre with the knowledge, passion and respect of the seasonal ingredients from the farmer’s market, the food is superb. The specials on the blackboard are impressive, unusual and follow the seasons. In winter you can find Chef Perre’s famous cassoulet to wild game; In the spring shad roe and soft shell crabs; and in the summer you can find paella, steak tartar, and pomme frites. <br><br>It’s no surprise that Chez Pierre has been voted The Best French Restaurant of the Desert for the past six years and has been rated “Dining Excellence” by Zagat and Gayot. <br><br> You may be tempted to sign up in Chef Pierre’s cooking classes every Monday followed by lunch.<br><br> Bon Appetit!

"Wonderful meal on our first visit to Chez Pierre. We ordered the foie gras special, which was served with endive and tasty apples, and was delicious. Our entrees were the Orange Roughy and skate wing specials, both served in similar fashion, and both very tasty, especially since neither fish is common on restaurant menus. We only get to this area once or twice a winter, but we will definiteely go back to Chez Pierre."

Our restaurant serves California-influenced French cuisine in a quaint countryside environment. We are a long-time favorite of locals who appreciate the value of the menu and our extensive wine list. After three decades of serving our clients, it is as much an honor and a privilege, as it is a reassurance to know, that while culinary trends come and go, appreciation and dedication to quality endure.<br /><br />Breakfast and Lunch served daily; Dinner Tuesday-Sunday.

"Tried the French Gourmet based on Open Table reviews and it was delightful. Great escargots in a classic prep and one of the best racks of lamb I've ever had, were particularly noteworthy, but everything was delicious. Stephan was friendly, helpful and interesting to talk with. Parking right in front of the door was a bonus. We'll definitely be back!"

"Addison has become a once-a-year dining experience for us when we winter in the San Diego area. This is truly a word-class restaurant, whether you choose the standard 4 course menu or splurge on the wonderful, but bank account- draining, tasting menu with wine pairings. The setting is palatial, the service impeccable and the food exquisite, with several one-of-a-kind preparations. A true culinary experience, not easily replicated."
