Celebrating its 108th Year, Barbetta is the oldest restaurant in New York still owned by its founding family. Barbetta is also New York's oldest Italian restaurant and the oldest restaurant in the Theater District. This three-fold distinction has earned it landmark status by the Locali Storici d'Italia. In a glittering interior decorated with 18th century Italian antiques Barbetta serves the cuisine of Piemonte, Italy's northwestern most region. In summer, its exuberantly verdant garden with century-old trees and scented with the blooms of wisteria, oleander, jasmine and gardenia make it a most sought-after site for al fresco dining.
"We enjoyed the pre-theatre dinner at Barbetta, a surprising dining room in the heart of midtown. Apparently, the Pope comes from the same Italian town as the owner/chef and the Pope's favorite dish is highlighted on the menu. We shared the vegetable crepe appetizer and the duck entree and seafood entree All were excellent. Just the right size portions and the prix fixe at $58 per person iscomparatively reasonable."

In May 2009, Chef George Mendes opened Aldea in Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood. Named after the Spanish word for village, the restaurant’s menu is inspired by the Iberian Peninsula and Mendes’ heritage. The chef adds a modern, seasonal approach to create a menu perfectly balanced between rusticity and refinement.

"Aldea was the most memorable dining experience in a long while. The staff is very professional and hospitable. Deceiving from the outside on 17th Street, the decor, seating and acoustics are perfect. And the food: Outstanding! We opted for the 4 course prix fixe. Easy for sharing, the portions aren't stingy, but we weren't bloated for dessert. Dishes are unique and creative. A fabulous experience overall. Not to be missed."

Diners should be aware there is not an a la carte menu for parties of 5 and larger. A 5 course Il Menu Del Posto and an 8 course Captain's menu are available for these parties.

Del Posto respectfully requests that gentlemen refrain from wearing shorts, sandals, sleeveless shirts, and baseball caps. Most men choose to wear jackets, but jackets are not required.

Del Posto welcomes younger guests ages 6 and up. Strollers are not permitted and high chairs are not available.
--

Del Posto is the first Italian restaurant in almost 40 years to be awarded 4 stars from the New York Times. Del Posto is the ultimate expression of what an Italian restaurant should be. We can best be described as an evolution of cuisines, menus, service, and ambiance that have characterized the history of the Italian dining experience in this country.

"its been 10 years since my last visit to Del Posto, and I'll have to wait another 10 before returning to digest the bill. The 5-course menu was outstanding from beginning to end. The over attentive service and professionalism was off the charts. I marveled at the extensive wine list and the sommelier's knowledge. But in the end, the wine was fabulous, but not worth the bottle price."

"Rosie O'Grady's is an obviously convenient stop for a meal or drink before a Broadway show. We dined there mid-week and the bar was packed. Very courteous and friendly staff. The food was OK but fell short of expectations based on the pricing. Stick with the oversized salads and appetizers."

"pig and the prince has it all- excellent food, superior service, great atmosphere. It's especially refreshing to see a confident, talented chef change up the menu every once in a while and outdo himself."
