"Knowing Chef Carlos my wife and I tried Max's. We came on an off hour hoping to see Carlos, alas he was elsewhere.
Food was very good, ambience (for brunch) was very pleasant. Ratatouille Au Gratin was a hit and generous for two to share. The Petite Fillet was just warm, but cooked perfectly. It seemed that the steak may have sat out too long as the greens were a bit wilted, the steak just warm. There was the offer to replace the fillet, but we declined. The Fish and Chips were generous on the chips. The fish was cooked nicely. The fish was a large piece. I would have liked two smaller pieces.
Max's nearness to the theatre would make this location great for apres or post theatre meeting. Staff was attentive and gracious.
The second floor is a nice, out of the way location. The rest rooms are here, and while not asking, that might be an issue for persons with handicaps."

"Kitchen on Cary was one of several restaurants my wife, a New York City architect, wanted to try when she was last in town. With our friend, Jeanne (also an architect) we made our way to KoC.
Wines to start were several tastings before picking a very nice and balanced Merlot. Appetizers included the Shrimp and Grits, the Oysters and the Wonton. All greatly appreciated.
The crab cake, we were told, was about 95% crab. Good, but oh that pesky 5%. The seared Ahi was quite tasty. Jean had a dish with Udon noodles, but thought the noodles a bit sweet.
The management was attentive to our comments. Our wait staff was on top of her game.
Atmosphere on a Saturday eve built as we ate, but was never over powering. A power lunch place for sure."
