Michel Richard's modern American brasserie, and winner of the 2008 James Beard award for best new restaurant is located on Penn. Ave NW between the White House and the Capitol. We serve Michel's tribute to great American cuisine, both modern and classic, with a French accent. A vibrant bar scene with boutique beer and wines, and modern and classic cocktails.

"I started with a salmon tartar that was fabulous. I would also, like many reviewers, recommend Michel's fried chicken. The potato purée was fabulous and the salad was refreshing. Overall just a great dining experience!"

Chef/Owner Robert Wiedmaier of Marcel's opens a casual, contemporary brasserie named after his younger son. The stunning space features an open steel and glass kitchen visible from three sides, set across from a unique family-style chef's table, dramatic 22-foot ceilings and a raw bar located at the end of a grand marble and walnut bar featuring an array of Belgian beers on tap to complement his French Belgian fare. Expansive outdoor patio is open April thru October. REAL certified by the US Healthful Food Council

"I loved my meal here. Traditional white wine and cream sauce mussels, a skillet roasted Amish chicken, and a very memorable flourless chocolate cake. Everything I bummed off my dining partner--frites and creme brulee, primarily--was fantastic as well. Service was a little slow, but we were having such a wonderful time it didn't really matter. I did notice it was a little loud- I don't think the restaurant is super well insulated. Regardless, it was a great experience and I would love to return for another meal. Next time, brunch!"

 Cafe La Ruche
Cafe La Ruche
La Ruche is French for Beehive. And Café La Ruche is aptly named. You'll often find my bistro abuzz with laughter, convivial conversation, and good cheer. Of course, I make sure that's all punctuated with wonderful food, the best espresso and cappuccino in town, and our signature pastries. A bit of Paris on the Potomac. If you've not dropped by in a while, I invite you back. We'll work hard to make you a regular.

Modern Asian cuisine from award winning Sushi Master Noriaki Yasutake and Chef Avinesh Rana. The intimate space, located next to the Landsburgh Theater, features seating for 70, sushi bar seating 10 and a cozy lounge area. Yasutake & Rana offers their modern spin on traditional sushi, specialty rolls and Asian fare. An extensive half bottle sake list has been specially selected by sommelier, Andrew Stover.

"I came here at 8 on a Monday night. The bar was empty but there were plenty of patrons in the restaurant. We had a wonderful, attentive waiter (I wish I'd paid attention to his name), and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. There are so many creative rolls on the sushi menu, so that's where we focused our attention. Most memorable (two days later) where the duck roll, the hamachi serrano roll, and the eel nigiri. I definitely recommend SEI, especially for foodies and romantic dinners."
