According to Zagat, Suckers for sake swoon over the "hidden jewel" near Grand Central offering a "mind boggling" selection of rice wine "categorized by region", as well as an "understated, quiet" setting reminiscent of a "private club"; those in the know say it's "secret location" (in the basement of an office building) make it better.

JUNGSIK offers a modern and unique Korean cuisine by innovative Chef Yim whom the New York Times has christened "The Pioneer of Modern Korean." This landmark Seoul experience is now offered at his TriBeCa flagship (former Chanterelle space), where bold flavors and playful culinary offerings abound. Jungsik brings the innovations of French cuisine and new Spanish movements into the Korean realm while staying true to big and bold familiar flavors of Korea.

"i've heard excellent things about jungsik but never got around to try it for myself. after they got their 2 michelin stars, i placed it back on my list to try. the food was simly extraordinary. creative yet carefully executed with subtle suggestions of interesting play on texture and taste buds. my husband and i wondered why we didn't try jungsik before and our "little kid" declared that she wanted to come to this restaurant every night. we just went to bouley the week before so in our minds, we were silently comparing bouley to jungsik. jungsik definitely holds its own."

"the worst part is the maître d'. i've had several unpleasant experiences with the maître d' prior to this visit but this visit was the worst of all.
with more than half the tables open at 12:15 pm for lunch, they seated my friend who arrived a few minutes ahead of me right next to the kitchen. we requested to be seated else where and it took the maître d' 9 minutes (yes, i counted because of my past bad experience) to switch us to another table.
this only happens with asian friends. when i visited with my non-asian friends, we got seated where we wanted and switch requests were honored immediately.
if this type of upacceptable treatment continues, i'd stop making this my work lunch place, taking all my contacts with me."
