Sailchef's Reviews

Four generations ago the Latz family arrived at the South Jersey beach colony. Since then they have passionately operated restaurants and created a culinary environment which has delighted millions of visitors to the Jersey shore. Latz"s is based on an organic and sustainable philosophy. It is American cuisine at its best using freshly caught seafood, grass fed meat and the finest of locally grown produce. The vintage 19th century cottage offers diners water views as well as a charming garden complete with a babbling water fountain. No trip to Latz's would be complete without a tasting of one of their freshly baked desserts. Latz's is a BYOB with a menu selection that will compliment any wine or spirit that one may bring. No trip to the shore is complete with a visit to Latz's in Somers Point.

"Latz's is a local BYOB with great food and service! Some Byobs don't have their staff trained in serving wine and making sure you have what you need for whatever libation you might bring. Latz's is very good at this. The food is soooo good and make sure you get dessert. We had specials at our last visit and they were superb. Craig our waiter is Scottish and since my sister is in love with visiting Scotland, Craig gave us a lesson in Gaelic. He made a good visit outstanding. A reservation is suggested as the tables tend to be filled. If you are in the area, VISIT LATZ'S!"

Featuring a comprehensive selection of more than six dozen whiskeys alongside what has been called the country’s best burger, Village Whiskey is an instant classic. Envisioned by Iron Chef Jose Garces as a spot where he and his team could enjoy a drink and a snack after a long night in the kitchen, the restaurant’s focal point is the central bar that is home to their near-encyclopedic catalogue of Chef Garces’ favorite spirit, whiskey. Our able bartenders shake and stir classic and contemporary cocktails in a space evocative of a Prohibition-era speakeasy.

House Specialties: Whiskey King Burger, Duck Fat Fries with Sly Fox Cheddar Sauce, House Made Pickles, Raw Bar

Beverage Program: Full bar, with Atlantic City’s best selection of whiskeys. Featuring local craft beers and contemporary cocktails inspired by the Prohibition & Repeal eras.

"We have been to Village Whiskey quite a few times, after gambling, before shows, just for dinner. We made reservations this time, which is always a good idea. Space at the bar is hit or miss but we've been lucky a lot. Try the pickle menu for something different and try the clams casino. The whiskey menu is extensive, the drinks are pampered. It's all good, but the desserts are a little sparse. Bring Back the Blondie!!!!!"
