Situated in the heart of the upscale Chevy Chase shopping district, the decor of this two-level restaurant celebrates the golden age of travel with steamships, planes, and the famed Orient Express rail line. Chef Derrick Jackson uses flavorful, fresh ingredients to prepare American-style cuisine in the Travel Rooms on the main level, or in the casual atmosphere of the downstairs Race Bar and Dining Room. Bar on main level, and a new outside bar and dining area.

"Lobsters at Clyde's are sweet and delicious and a good value. I wish they would have lobsters all year, not just September and October."

In April 1999, Restaurant Nora became America's first certified organic restaurant. This means that 95% or more of everything that you eat at the restaurant has been produced by certified organic growers and farmers all who share in Nora's commitment to sustainable agriculture. Nora always offers seasonal, fresh organic food, prepared in a healthy, balanced way and enjoys a "big following" of environmentalists and politicians, who can eat here with a clear conscience, knowing that what's on their plate hasn't polluted the environment, is healthy for them, and tastes good too. Nora offers a special chef's tasting menu, which is perfectly accompanied by a spectacular choice of wines from our award winning wine list, featuring over 100 exceptional wines from small wine producers.
"Lovely dinner for three. Beautiful presentation. Salads were fresh and nicely dressed. Fennel vichyssoise looked more like a thin puree spinach soup (though without spinach) and the taste was undistinguished. I had hoped for a thick white vichyssoise, so that was a bit of a disappointment to those of us who love the traditional potato leek variety. The leg of lamb was delicious. The strawberry peach pie had a buttery crust and was wonderful. Soft shell crabs are always a favorite though less deep fried batter and more simply sauteed would have allowed more flavor of the crabs to be tasted."

"A return visit fell far short of an earlier one where two of us shared the whole lobster with risotto. It was plenty for two, a half lobster each. This time my friend ordered the lobster dish. To our chagrin the lobster was served out of the shell and had only two small chunks of meat. People at the next table were savoring the whole lobster in the shell. The waiter could not explain why we got shortchanged. We expected some sort of apology, some offer of adjustment. He said he had no authority to adjust and there was no manager on duty. Surely Al Dente's waiters should have some flexibly in a situation like this. The next day the manager called my friend and invited her to have a free lobster dish on another occasion."

Located on beautiful Lake Kittamaqundi in the heart of downtown Columbia, Clyde's has been serving lunch and dinner daily, and Sunday brunch, since 1975. With a seasonal American cuisine menu, diners can enjoy Wild Alaska Salmon in season, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Filet Mignon, or a delicious Bacon Cheeseburger. Sunday brunch features favorites like French Toast, Eggs Maryland and Steak and Eggs. Serving a late-night menu, Clyde's is the place to go after a movie or a concert at nearby Merriweather Post. The Tomato Palace, our delightful Italian restaurant right next door, serves homemade pastas, wood-fired oven pizza, and a variety of salads, sandwiches and Italian entrees.

We do not accept reservations for outside dining.

"Clyde's in Columbia is a great place for lunch. There was lots of conviviality during the World Cup matches. The petit filet with Béarnaise was tender and tasty and filling enough to forego dinner. I often go to Clyde's in Chevy Chase and have never been disappointed. It is predictably good."
