Washington power breakfasts and express lunches are served under The Jefferson’s historic skylight. Natural light streams in from above, creating an informal, airy setting for daytime meals that perfectly complements the light, fresh and energizing fare on Chef Chris Jakubeic’s inspired menus

"This is my regular Sunday morning breakfast spot. It is quiet, the service is great, the food is good. It's the perfect place for an early morning breakfast. I have never been to their brunch which I understand is lovely as well."

"Flemings has never failed to have great food, great ambience, excellent wait staff, and a lovely overall dining experience. Their special Sunday night prime rib dinner should be a regular item on the daily menu."

"I've been going to Clyde's for decades and it has always been reliably good -- nice menu selections, good food, timely service. I went twice in the past week and something is happening at Clyde's. The food orders took an inordinate amount of time on both occasions. A manager apologized for the delay after we repeatedly asked various staff where our food was. "The kitchen was backed up." That was unusual since Clyde's is typically busy and has timely service. She offered to adjust the price and comped dessert. The second time that week the food took 45 minutes. We inquired several times and heard they were backed up. Clyde's needs to correct whatever has gone awry and get back to its usual good standards."

"I've gone to the recently opened Fiola Mare three times this week and each meal has been exceptional. Grilled fish, perfectly fresh, filleted at the table and served unadulterated with condiments on the side, is exquisite. Pasta dishes are made with unusual ingredients and are delicious. Half portions can be ordered. Salads are colorful with edible flowers and paper thin sliced strawberries. Maria's fixed price three course lunch selection bursts with flavor, is low on calories, and is a great value at $25. The restaurant is beautiful and the setting on the Potomac is beautiful."

"I had a great brunch at Shore and it was not crowded and everything was good -- food, service, ambiance, noise level. However I had dinner a few nights earlier and it was pandemonium inside. The restaurant was packed and noise level was horrible. There were five of us at the table and no one could hear anything. So my assessment is stick to lunch or brunch if you want to be able to talk to your companions. Shore is lovely -- except for that -- and I highly recommend it -- except for that."

With vintage posters smiling down upon cozy, warm woods and crisp white tablecloths, Bistro Français offers a relaxing French atmosphere with excellent cuisine to match. Located in the heart of historic Georgetown, the restaurant consistently offers authentic dishes that are sure to please every palate. Whether you are gathering for a relaxed weekend brunch, a celebratory dinner, or a late-night snack, Bistro Français serves genuine cuisine at moderate prices.

Executive chef and owner Gerard Cabrol came to Washington D.C., bringing with him home recipes from southwestern France. Today he makes sure that his specialties are as consistent as they were when he opened the restaurant in 1975. These recipes of authentic French cuisine have made Bistro Français an institution in Washington, D.C. and has won the restaurant a few awards along the way.

"This was one of the few DC restaurants open on Christmas Day. It was a great choice. Lovely menu for the holiday or a la carte as well. Food was wonderful, setting was lovely. Holiday decorations were very tastefully understated. The only complaint is the cold draft that swept across us every time the front door was opened. They need to do something about this. We moved to another table and that solved the problem."
