"We had their signature drink... the Pisco Sour and it's great! Then we also tried the El Piscolero and it was even better! Can't go wrong sitting at the bar, people watching, talking to the bartenders and having a fun time! I want to go back and eat the food though! :)"

Tamarine is a contemporary Vietnamese restaurant that features the light but flavor-intensive culinary delicacies of Vietnam. The restaurant offers a menu based on small plates, promoting the Vietnamese tradition of the 'shared' meal in which food is shared and enjoyed with those close. Tamarine's small plate entrees are enjoyed with the pairing of a variety of aromatic, flavor infused rice, designed to be mixed and matched to create a truly unique flavor experience. Along with culinary delicacies of Vietnam, the restaurant showcases the works of emerging artists from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Semi-annual exhibits will close with a cocktail event to auction the art. Proceeds will be donated to La Maison Chance, an orphanage in Saigon, Vietnam.

"This place was recommended to me from a couple ladies at another restaurant in town and I am so happy I listened to them. We sat at the communal table in the center of the restaurant which was perfect for a quiet Monday night. It was romantic but not stuffy. We had the Wok fried noodles which are not fried at all.. the Tamarine Taste App whig was perfect o share and try a few apps.. and the Brussel sprouts which were also super tasty! All those items made a perfect meal for two. I would definitely come back here."

Opening August 2, 2012

RM, simply put, is Grower Champagne. The designation RM is derived from the French wine Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) system’s classification of Champagne Houses; Récoltants Manipulants (RM), signifies an artisanal farmer who bottles his own wine. Celebrating this passion and care, the salon will pay homage to these growers that rely solely on fruit from their own vineyards with inherently distinct terroir. Bringing a balance of knowledge and passion that will be an enriching testament to Chicago’s forward-thinking wine community, Wagner will tailor an obsessively curated portfolio, which will feature a large selection of estate-grown wines from these vignerons who are intensively involved from bud-break to bottling.

"So I went for happy hour with a girlfriend of mine to catch up over a bottle of wine.. and RM's prices are just ridiculous. I mean.. come on. I get it- you're a cute place, with great selections, and super trendy right now but really... come on.. Be a little friendlier to the wallet.
We did enjoy the $1 oysters (they have every Tuesday!) those were great! And the ambiance inside is outstanding- so cute and cozy with the fire and couches and color pallet. The waitstaff was a bit all over the place and hovering longer than we would like.. I MIGHT go back for the oysters and to try more of the food options.. but the drink menu needs to slow it's roll. Cute place though!"

Japonais by Morimoto offers its guests the signature cuisine of (Iron Chef) Masaharu Morimoto; a seamless blend of Japanese and Western techniques brought together to create exciting new flavors and culinary experiences. With brand new enhancements, designed by the timeless Jeffrey Beers International, our restaurant features two distinct dining rooms and among the new and exciting additions to our dramatic yet classic 10,000 sq. ft. space are a sushi bar backed by an open kitchen where Chef Morimoto’s signature omakase menus are prepared and Shochu / Sake bar which features Chef Morimoto’s own line of shochu,
sake and craft beers.

"I have always had mixed feelings about Japonais. I will say that after not going for two plus years, the food is MUCH better. We had the soft shell crab roll, the wagyu "The Rock" and the duck confit fried rice (my favorite item that was also reasonably priced) everything else on the menu was a bit... underwhelming and overpriced. BUT, as my title says.. I think you pay for the chef name behind the food. The drinks were GREAT.. I had the serenity and the Take Five. Both great options. The Soft shell crab roll was 4-5 large pieces.. and the wagyu beef app was about 7 thin slices of beef.. so if you want to be full by the time you leave, ORDER/PAY more. ;) I might go back for drinks but the food wasn't outstanding by any means. Sorry Chef!"

"So welcoming! The hostesses and bartenders were great! Such nice people. A very slow night- hardly anyone there- but the bartender took great care of us- gave us an app and dessert on the house! Food was average, and I would probably go back, but they need to do some advertising or something so people know about it. It's hidden down the street and maybe some ads would bring people in? Good luck to them!"

"Food is good- nothing to write home about. Friendly staff, eager to please- which is nice but won't carry the restaurant I doubt. I wanted to to try the lunch sushi or Japanese food but they "didn't have it" which would have been nice to know beforehand. We were able to order from one fourth of the menu as the other options were not available. Probably won't go back- not horrible just nothing great."

"This place smells incredible from the moment you walk in.. very inviting and like an antique shop vibe.. I loved it. The hot chocolate was outstanding (I had the chai one) and the Shrimp Louie salad was so tasty and different. The tomato soup was a bit boring- good but nothing great. My coworker had the BLET which he said was fantastic- it was HUGE like a burger almost! I wanted to try it- next time. I will be back for sure!!"

"This was an odd one for me to describe.. the restaurant shares a space with their sister restaurant which was not open on this Friday night- making the restaurant appear to be empty! No one wants to eat in an empty restaurant on a Friday night. Our waitress was very inattentive & seemed to be busy doing god knows what, so drinks were slow to arrive. The flatbread was good & cheese plate was alright.. but we had to flag someone down to explain out cheese platter to us- everyone seemed really uninterested to work there. The short rib ravioli was alright but nothing memorable and I can't even remember our fourth dish so evidently not too memorable either. I wanted to like this place because I heard great things but truth is I won't be back."

The California-influenced, American restaurant features a wood-fire grill as its centerpiece and will dish out an ever-changing menu that spotlights locally-sourced produce & ingredients whenever possible. In addition to simply prepared proteins and a large selection of market vegetables, Summer House also boasts Chef Mahin’s signature artisanal bread program, an extensive wine list, fresh-squeezed juices and a wide array of pastry & sweets. Seeking to make diners feel at-home, the restaurant has been designed to evoke the atmosphere of a summer beach house with whitewashed woods, warm tones and a large glass ceiling positioned directly over the dining room that brings the outside in no matter what the season. An open kitchen outfitted in earth-toned tiling and a five-foot, wood-fire grill that emulates a home hearth further fosters the comfortable atmosphere.

Now open for Lunch on Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-4pm and Saturdays & Sundays for our weekend Brunch 8am-3pm!

"What a fun and vibrant brunch spot! We had a reservation but it was so busy we had to wait a bit which is not a problem at all bc you can grab a coffee or pastry from the little front bar and people watch. The noises and smells add to the ambiance. It's just lovely. We had a GREAT table in the bar- a big round booth and the coffee was great and food too! The egg breakfast was a fave by two in my party!! I will for sure b back- it's a beautiful restaurant and I want to try more food!!"
