John McDonald of Lure Fishbar and his partners (Josh Capon, Peter Kane) exploit various cuts of beef on their meat-centric menu, which includes pork, veal, rabbit and seafood.

"What a great place! Amazing food, service and ambience! Food highlights: off menu appetizer Kobe beef meatballs ( wow) , bone in filet ( tender, tasty, cooked to perfection!), ny strip ( again perfection!), amazing hash browns with sour cream and scallions placed on top ( again a wow). We live in NYC and love steak. We have been to them all. This is THE BEST!"

HOKU'S (reservations from 5:30pm - 10:00pm for dinner Wednesday through Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday nights) is heralded for its innovative fusion fare which melds Hawaiian, Asian and European flavors. Hoku's is consistently ranked as one of Hawaii's best restaurants.

With a twist on contemporary Island cuisine, Hoku's returns to the basics and revamps the classics. The cuisine is fresh, light, and innovative. The ever-popular Hoku's Ahi Musubi and the crisped whole Island Fish (for two) remain on the menu as local favorites. Ingredients are a mix of fresh locally grown produce and imports from abroad.

Hoku's has a breathtaking beachside setting with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every table in the multi-level dining room.

"We are staying at the Kahala hotel. Have been here many times. This hotel was recently bought by a Janese businessman in October. Services have rapidly deteriorated! Besides no help at pool all food services are poor quality. Hokus used to be upscale. Now during holiday season ( been here before holiday season) menu has shrunken. Fish of the day was exactly the same: presentation and preparation as at the beach coffee shop! You can get exact same food at coffee shop and Hokusai but pay more at Hoku! This is not fine dining anymore!"

Ask a local where to find unique food & wines in a fun, unpretentious setting and there's a good chance Cowboy Ciao will be near the top of the list. And why not? Bold flavors, a massive wine list, whimsical decor and friendly, personalized service are a few of the reasons to love this small, independent hot spot. Try the legendary Stetson Chopped Salad or Exotic Mushroom Pan Fry with a Bay To Breakers, your favorite syrah, or a bargain bottle of malbec from South America. Save room for pastry chef Country Velador's memorable desserts! Lunch & dinner daily, Sunday Brunch dishes. A Valley favorite since 1997, this Modern American eatery has two siblings literally next door -- FnB (seasonal, local, often organic & sustainable, all-Arizona wine list); Kazimierz World Wine Bar (wines galore, global grazing, live entertainment every night of the week).

"Been here twice. Famous salad great yet one waiter for whole restaurant makes service slow and inefficient. Interesting menu with desserts first yet Birthday cake listed has never Ben a birthday cake: once a horrible olive oil cake, another time a fence banana cake with marcaspone frosting. You'd never have on your birthday. If you r not having the Stetson Salad, rest of menu is just weird. Worth going for salad only but if you are with someone who doesn't want salad go elsewhere!"

Sushi Roku’s vast & colorful menu features an array of fresh sushi, Prime Steaks, hot & cold specialty appetizers, & an extensive selection of hot entrees. The freshest ingredients are flown in daily creating a menu that includes signature specialties like the Colorado Lamb Chops marinated in Soy Garlic or Spicy Jumbo Pan-Fried Shrimp. Our full service bar features a large selection of hot & cold sakes, special Asian martinis, & an extensive wine list.
Guests will enjoy the main dining room that features a wall of suspended solid concrete core spindles lit from below that act as a backdrop to the glowing room. Large rock boulders, teak floors & ceiling, oil rubbed bronze metal detailing & water & fire elements embody the dining experience throughout. The second floor patio dining, located adjacent to the Wet Pool, is an intimate outdoor space with plenty of room for everything from a romantic dinner for two, to larger celebrations & social gatherings.

"Staying at W Hotel. This is only restaurant and stopped in for quick dinner. Was clear to waiter we each were having an appetizer and were not sharing! My wife's appetizer came out first, mine 30 minutes later Same for main course only reversed. This was at 530pm and only one party of four besides us in the restaurant! Unacceptable. Hotel is great but needs a better restaurant. Won't be back!"

Picholine offers contemporary French-Mediterranean cuisine in both it's elegant dining rooms and casual, no reservation cheese and wine bar. Perhaps best known for introducing the European cheese cart to discerning American diners, Chef Brennan also specializes in Wild Game and innovative contemporary Mediterranean dishes.

"Go to many french restaurants like La Grenoille and Bouley. Had pre- theatre here, first time here. Ordered gnocchi appetizer: 4 pieces. Lamb entree....3 chicklet sized pieces....no kidding. $350 bill for 2 with 2 glasses of wine (wine by the glass). Been all over the world and never saw such tiny portions!!!!! Ridiculous. Had to go to dinner after the show since we were both hungry!"
