Taste on Melrose is Melrose Avenue friendliest neighbor, homey yet sophisticated. With its relaxed setting, updated American comfort cuisine and eminently moderate prices, Taste on Melrose offers everything that people are looking for in a neighborhood restaurant. Located in the mids of the swanky stretch of trend setting Melrose Avenue with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Diane Von Furstenburg. Taste on Melrose is a neighborhood favorite for stylish Angelinos with a preference for elegant surroundings and a comforting, laid-back dining experience. FULL BAR.

"Dining experience was wonderful from a food perspective, but the overall ambience and noise level detracted from any enjoyment. Manager said this was typical of a Sunday brunch, so if it's typical, why not do something ABOUT IT so that your diners won't COMPLAIN ABOUT IT?!!!?!"

The Ayres family has been serving up fantastic Steaks, Chops, Ahi Sandwiches, Signature Salads, and House-made Desserts for decades. Each location presents a lively atmosphere where friends and neighbors can be seen table-hopping while business associates hammer out important deals.

There is fireside dining in the main dining room as well as the tree-shaded patio facing the magnificent San Juan Capistrano Mission.

"Were seated at a table next to a wall that had a "pillar" of stones going up to the ceiling. It was VERY dark, and there was kind of an odor nearby -- not sure if it was busboy B.O. or the furniture! Made the dining experience not so great, but we had no other options. Better for outdoor dining."

MUD HEN TAVERN's food, drinks and inviting atmosphere offers an affordable dining experience for the area. Susan and Executive Chef/Partner Kajsa Alger serve up a wide variety of rustic dishes and bar food, with the occasional global inflections that these beloved chefs naturally bring to the table. The bar team, driven by mixology consultant Tricia Carr, has curated a beverage program that offers a vibrant and accessible selection of international wines, local craft beers and artisanal cocktails that complement Mud Hen Tavern’s cuisine. The refurbished space includes plenty of booths and communal tables, as well as an expanded bar with a draft beer system, all in the front room to allow patrons to easily walk in for drinks or dinner. The outdoor patio offers a more relaxing atmosphere for reservations, larger groups and private events.

"Service was excruciatingly slow during our Sunday brunch visit. There was a football game on, but I don't know if that was a significant contributor to the place being full. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table, despite our reservation, and it was at least another 10 minutes before a server even came to our table after we were seated. All told, lunch took 2.5 hours due to the slow kitchen and slow service. Our server was trying her best, but she had too many tables and not enough help."
