Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated, so, please, come on in!

Parties of 8 or more, please call to make a reservation.
"Wow. A&H is new and has instantly become the best restaurant in Harvard Square -- with no close second! Inventive cuisine that defies the trends, a deft touch on just about every dish, presentation and service to die for, and a menu that will make vegetarians bring a suitcase and move in. Stunning debut!"

Beat Hôtel is an American brasserie and bar located in the heart of Harvard Square. Inspired by the hippie and beat movements of the mid-twentieth century, we cater to all walks of life. Our mission is to satisfy the local community as well as vagabonds passing through.

With an always fresh, seasonal, and wholesome menu, enjoyable for carnivores and vegetarians alike, our dishes draw influence and flavors from around the world. Our bar celebrates American spirits and American artisanal wines crafted by small batch winemakers with heart and soul.

To heighten the senses further, we feature daily live music by cutting edge musicians in jazz, blues and world music, bringing eclectic artistry to our stage in Cambridge.

"Huge over-the-top flavors layered upon layer until every dish is an indistinguishable muddle of salt, fat, sugar, and then some more salt just in case you aren't completely dehydrated. Think Burger King with quality ingredients, but at the price of many of Boston's best restaurants. Does everything in the world really require an extra hit of bacon and brie? College students will consider this a big night out. Grown ups should look elsewhere. (BTW, our server was just wonderful, the drinks are overpriced but fine, and the room is weirdly cavernous and vaguely unpleasant)."

Descending the stairs into Lucky's is like stepping through a portal into a swinging hipster lounge straight out of the '50s. Dim red lighting washes a rowdy vinyl-upholstered dining room, which is separate from the long narrow bar. Sardine-like conditions are the norm during peak hours, when an energetic crowd (Fort Point Channel artsy types and Financial District worker bees) rolls in for the neighborhood's liveliest scene. - Citysearch

"Drinks yes, food no. Ignore the glowing reviews from people for whom a dive bar is a Big Night Out. The celebrated sliders are one (very small) step above White Castle. Have a drink, interact with a wonderfully friendly staff, and then go to a real restaurant."
