MoonWoman's Reviews

You'll find the comfortable, warm-wooded restaurant filled with a crowd as diverse as the menu there for a special occasion or a casual gathering. The nostalgic feel, including the sounds of Big Band 30's and 40's coupled with a current menu with generous portions gives the Denver ChopHouse its approachable, yet upscale contemporary style. Handcrafted ales brewed on-site, small batch bourbons, and a fine array of single malt scotches all add to the ChopHouse tradition.

"I took 10 for dinner before a Rockies' fireworks game. Surprisingly, the restaurant was not full. We waited 45+ minutes for our food to be served, I ordered a rare burger; it was well done. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm. After the food was served, we never saw the waiter again until it was time to present the check, so I didn't have an opportunity to tell him about the problems with my meal. And, because it took so long to get the food, I wouldn't have waited for the chef to prepare another burger anyway. I once worked across the street from the Chophouse and ate there often; the food and service were outstanding. My last two visits were disappointing, so I'm not sure I want to chance a third disappointment."

"I've been to Charcoal many times...love to bring out-of-town friends...and the food is always delicious and delightfully presented. This time, I went with my sister and a friend and we all raved about our various brunch entrees. I had the vegetable omelet with a side of incredible green chile; my sister had the Swedish pancakes which is her favorite dish; and our friend had the three-course brunch that featured a tasty rendition of chicken and waffles. We all agreed that the food was the best we'd ever had at Charcoal...a very tall order since we all consider it a favorite."

"When friends are visiting from out of town, Elway's is my go-to restaurant for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Over the 4th weekend, I took two friends to dinner. The service was outstanding...no hovering, but there when needed. We all had filets that were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Brussels sprouts hash is a must! My friends loved the small dessert options, and we all enjoyed the brulee spoons. Can't say enough positive things about Elway's!"

"My office staff often choose Cool River for special occasions...birthdays, in particular. The food is always very good...and sometimes it's outstanding. This visit just didn't quite make outstanding although the french fries were excellent as was the blackened salmon on the Caesar salad. The venison, ordered medium rare, was very rare. Chocolate mousse cake got rave reviews."
