"We had brunch here last Sunday. Our food was good but prices were expensive compared to what you get. We were most surprised by a mushroom omelette which was a special at $28. We asked about it twice because we couldn't figure out why- I could understand if it was jammed packed with morel mushrooms but porcini? The regular omelette was $14.
I guess the value issue is why the place was quite empty compared to never being able to get dinner reservations. I love their food in general but there are better options for brunch. This is why it got 3 stars.

"We had Mother's Day brunch at Coobah and can't wait to try dinner too! Their version of eggs Benedict with arepa instead of English muffin were awesome. Ditto the spicy tater tots! Great homemade sausage. Our mimosas were generous and well made. Not a weak watered down version. The only negative was that I wasn't a fan of the coffee. I think that is personal taste. Another plus is that it is so convenient to the Southport el stop."

Since 1999, Madiba Restaurant has offered a unique South African experience, the first of it"s kind in the United States. The restaurant is more than the food- join us to witness love, enjoy libations, and the feeling of "Ubuntu"- "humanity" in the Xhosa language.

Fashioned in the style of a "Shebeen," Madiba offers refuge and relief to neighbors and travelers, friends and strangers alike. Come and see for yourself.

"We enjoyed our visit to Madiba very much! The menu was varied and I enjoyed the Lambchops while my husband had a vegetarian dish. I loved the accompaniments. But the highlight was the bread pudding - so awesome! Wine selection was reasonable and good as well. It' crowded and the tables are a tight fit but its a fun place to spend an evening!"
