Vermilion offers deceptively simple modern American cooking in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria. From Chef William Morris' regional cuisine using local, farm-raised products whenever possible to the warmth of its ambiance and the gracious hospitality its staff brings to the table, Vermilion serves as an ideal location for a casual weekday dinner, a special occasion destination or simply a great gathering place for drinks.

"My husband & I had been wanting to go to Vermillion since moving to Alexandria; it's a friend's favorite OT restaurant. We usually just decide to go out at the spur of the moment, so we had a hard time getting into Vermillion, because it is often booked well in advance. When I saw that it was on the list of Restaurant Week restaurants, I went ahead and booked it! It did not disappoint. I'm gluten intolerant, so the limited menu for Restaurant Week is even more limited for me. I chose the chilled corn and crab soup (yum), the risotto and the PB&J dessert (they had to alter it slightly) - also delicious, as long as you like peanut butter! The risotto was a little bland, but still good enough that I wished for more! Server was terrific."

From the talents behind Proof, Estadio recently debuted on trendy 14th St NW, above Logan Circle. According to blog.zagat.com 'offering contemporary takes on regional classics in pintxos, tapas and entree-sized portions, along with sandwiches on housemade bread, all washed down by Iberian wines (many under $10 a glass) and frozen alcoholic slushies; the über-stylish setting incorporates decorative wrought iron, reclaimed timber, colorful tiles and themed murals, with seating at a large concrete bar, a marble counter facing the open kitchen and window-side tables perfect for scoping the vibrant street scene.'

"This is my second time at Estadio. I've really enjoyed both meals. Fresh, interesting take on traditional Spanish dishes. Great sangria; also with a fresh twist on the traditional version. Lots and lots of gluten free options, too!"
