"The rockfish special was delicious. The Red Room is a lovely, quiet setting."

"We live on Capitol Hill and were meeting a friend who lives in the Watergate Building, so we needed a restaurant in that area. She was concerned that it would be noisy. The space is very small, and if it's crowded would definitely be noisy. However, Friday night it was quiet. The pace is unrushed, but the waiter/host was overly friendly. The restaurant is in a small hotel in Foggy Bottom, so maybe he's used to hotel guests feeling a little lost and needing attention. We were a group of 5 who all live in DC and were more interested in interacting with each other.
The cocktails came out quickly, but the appetizers arrived and the wine was nowhere in sight. We finally got the wine after asking another server where it was. The main courses were plated very nicely. My husband and I had the special -- grouper with veggies and potatoes. The fish was overcooked and thus too dry for our taste. The others in our group had salmon and seemed very pleased with it."

"My husband and I go to Bistro Cacao at least twice a month. We love the food there. For lunch or brunch I often have their Salad Cacao with salmon or shrimp, sometimes the special if it's fish -- the chef does trout especially well. My husband loves their tuna Nicoise sandwich, although last time he had hanger steak with roasted fingerling potatoes that he really enjoyed. When the weather is agreeable, their beautiful outdoor space is great for a relaxing meal. Indoors, go for the Red Room, which is a quiet romantic space."
