"This spot has a lot of options for gourmet burgers. So what you can expect is a pricier version of meat on a bun, but mine was pretty tasty. As gourmet burgers go, i would rate it ok, but as some others have said, a little pricey."

Against The Grain brings urban chic to the heart of Toronto in Leaside. Located on Laird Drive at the Leaside Village shopping complex, ATG Urban Tavern offers a sophisticated, warm dining environment spread over two floors and, in the summer, both a main floor and second floor patio. Our focus is fresh contemporary American cuisine with a twist - think braised beef nachos, lemongrass-cured trout or crab and szechuan shrimp penne. We also offer fresh oysters, an extensive salad selection, steaks, sandwiches and much more. If you wish to join us at one of our three bars, we offer 18 unique local and international draughts, rotating cask ales and an extensive list of wines and cocktails.

"This is a pretty standard tavern with some interesting beers. They do their own and they have some unusual cocktails made with the beers. That makes it a bit different.
Good ambiance and decent service.
Menu is reasonably priced and has some good offerings -- the pulled pork flatbread was very good.
If you are grabbing a casual meal -- you can't go wrong here.

Joe Badali's Ristorante Italiano & Bar brings the taste of Italy to the heart of Toronto. Our fine country Italian cuisine and magnificent landscape captures the charm and savouries of Italy as well as our great city. On your first visit to Joe Badali's you'll immediately feel like you're one of the family. Joe and his extended family welcome you with open arms. "Remember once a Badali - always a Badali"<br />Joe Badali's is located in a 100 year old building featuring exposed brick walls, original hardwood floors and an exposed 16' ceiling. Joe's is interestingly comprised of many rooms, nooks and crannies. When you first enter through our antique wooden revolving door, you'll cheerfully be greeted by a member of the family at the front door.<br />Tradition, family, great food, and hospitality. "Fyi - we have been to Reds in FCP which we like very much.
Decor was nice, and service was attentive.
Overall was ok -- was quite expensive for so casual a venue!
Not sure if we will be back, as for the money, I would expect something different.
The mussels and the kale/quinoa salad were good -- roast chicken dish was nothing special.
Wines were pricey.

Since its very first review in 1981, when Joanne Kates of The Globe & Mail raved both about the food and the unstinting attention to detail, Scaramouche has gone from strength to strength for over twenty years - no small feat in a world obsessed with trends and novelty. The food reflects chef Keith Froggett’s belief that less is more; that the finest ingredients classically combined result in a purity that transcends fads and fusion. The service is unobtrusive and faultless yet furnished simply, without pretense. The restaurant’s longevity is a testimonial to the pursuit of quality and the gracious welcome one receives at Scaramouche. Twice voted “Toronto’s Top Restaurant” by Gourmet magazine, Scaramouche remains the pre-eminent destination for fine food and excellent wines, the place to be as the sun sets and the lights of the city’s skyline begin to twinkle through the restaurant’s windows. Our goal is to ensure the most gracious of welcomes and quality throughout your visit.

"The service here is always wonderful. Best in the city (IMHO).
What we ate:
- Colville oysters and the grilled octopus salad to start
- the duck breast (with mushroom and foie gras stuffing) and the filet mignon as mains
- the coconut cream pie and the Valrhona chocolate mousse
The appetizers and mains were fantastic.
For me their coconut cream pie is "da bomb", but I have to say that the Valrhona mousse by comparison looked tiny. My husband said it was good, but that he needed a magnifying glass to see it (joking of course) -- and since the coconut cream pie is a generous offering -- well I shared! :) Service was wonderful, and they gave us a table by the window as requested.
Thanks to the management for a wonderful meal!

John & Sons Oyster House - Downtown is out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the financial core but at the same time right in the middle of it, hidden away. From ducking down our little street, you feel as though you are doing something deliciously wicked. When you walk in the door of our 40 seat joint, you feel as though you’ve stumbled upon the best speakeasy in town and you’re getting away with flouting all the rules while everyone else behaves. You may think you’ll only have a few oysters and a quick drink while you’re there, but everything around you conspires to make you want to stay longer. Our fare varies according to the time of year, coastal fishing quotas and weather conditions. We can always shuck to order from a selection of 5-10 different Oysters daily, drawn from both our own beds in P.E.I. and the best growers in Canada, the USA and further abroad.
