Tanta is dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, fun and casual downtown setting. We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and ceviche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

"Tables here are a bit close together and you can easily overhear your neighbors and if you've got a big booty like me, you may find it awkward to squeeze into and out of the seating. But, once you're all set, you can enjoy a great meal with creative small plates and attentive service. Highlights: pulpo, scallop nigiri, beef empanadas, razor clam special with purple potatoes, and seafood fried rice. Desserts looked amazing but we were too full after all our small plates. Be sure to start the night with one of their tasty cocktails. I went for a classic pisco sour but they have a lot more interesting drinks if you want something a little different. They have booths that fit small groups but I wouldn't suggest more than 4-5 people."

Street food is the great equalizer--no glamour required. Yakitori, when well-executed, is about the simple flavors of authentic street food. A hot grill provides intense flavors from seasonal proteins and vegetables, grilled to order over a chattering, hissing fire.

Beer, wine and sake selections compliment the fresh-grilled flavors. Craft cocktails, wines and spirits are chosen for customized meal pairings. Experiment and discover!

"Sometimes you can't trust them but Yusho absolutely lived up to all of the positive reviews I read before booking. My party of two was seated right away and after a brief delay between first pass and second, the service was stellar. We shared the pickles, beef heart, and foie gras special plus one Cosmo steam bun. The pickled quail eggs were perfectly creamy with a slight tang. The beef heart had a wonderfully balanced flavor reminiscent of jerky but tender and malleable texture. The bun was very good but didn't really stand out against the rest. Lastly, the foie gras had a lovely flavor but came out solid due to being chilled for the gelee(not personally a fan of gelees). Once it warmed and softened, we enjoyed it much more. 4.6/5"
