Dirty French is a New York bistro created by Major Food Group’s Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick. The restaurant takes its culinary cues from the timeless dishes and preparations of classic French bistros and enlivens them utilizing modern techniques and bold flavors. Dishes like Duck à l’Orange with ras el hanout and preserved oranges remain true to their French roots but are restyled with flavors that explore the breadth and depth of the global French culinary influence. Dirty French is located in the Ludlow Hotel in Manhattan’s storied Lower East Side.

"This place deserves all nice reviews that are being written by specialists. The service is much better than the "Italian savoir vivre cosplay" that the same group does at Carbone. Food is amazing. Meal begins with fantastic flat bread and, in my case was followed by the impressive chicken crepe signature dish, full of flavors, innovative herbs, moist... Delicious. Deserts were fantastic, with special mention to the amazingly fluffy beignets that you dip in a sweet and perfectly executed caramel. They reinvent (and in some positive ways provoke) French cuisine, in a very unpretentious way, making some fun that really works in your mouth."

Established in 1920, The Waverly Inn was reopened in 2006 by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter along with Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode (of the Maritime and Bowery Hotels) and Emil Varda. Tucked into the ground floors of two adjoining townhouses, the dining room's red booths, fireplaces and low amber lighting provide an attractive and cozy hangout for the city’s best and brightest. Chef Ashley Merriman’s menu features American classics alongside contemporary seasonal dishes using organic, local ingredients.

"Waverly Inn once had some of the most hard tables to get in Town... This fever is gone and I believe that this was very good for the restaurant, that significantly improved food and service. Didn't try the mac and cheese this last visit (tried other times and it was great), but was happily surprised with a delicious chicken pot-pie and good desert. The barman was a super nice and polite guy, very different from other experiences I had... Ambience is still very nice, with an interesting mix of people and the same lovely garden. Prices are a bit high, but quite consonant with the place. Worth the visit."
