Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, offers fresh Farm-to-Table, sustainable, American inspired true food and drink. Our menus include classic dishes made from scratch, inspired by the heartland with sustainably farmed products, with locally sourced items and in-season vegetables and fruits whenever possible.

Guests can gather around one of many community tables and enjoy great family dinner dishes like pot pie, pot roast, roasted chicken, big green salads, rustic farm sandwiches, soups, and rich, delectable pies and other desserts from our seasonal menus, in a comfortable modern farmhouse setting.

The restaurant is upscale casual, which welcomes business casual dress, and dress that would be appropriate in a nice restaurant; this includes jeans and athletic wear, and warm-weather clothing, including shorts.
"What a great concept!!! We heard a lot about Founding Farmers and gave it a try. And we were not disappointed. Comfort foods abound. I started with the corn bread, then chicken noodle (soup du jour) and meatloaf. My wife had a burger....and both were superb. The meatloaf was "just like Mom used to make." And the mashed potatoes were to die for. We would go back in a heartbeat. I bet the Chicken Pot Pie would hit the jackpot, too. The mixed drinks, by the way, are great, too. I had a Manhattan and it was "spot on." Just terrific."

"I've noted the soups at Fire & Sage many times in my reviews. But last night was another absolute winner--Lentil. I don't know what it is about the soups here but the hits just keep on coming with them. What's also interesting is that there is just such a variety of them. I just love 'em. And on a cold winter night, they really hit the spot!!!"

"Hyatt Hotel is undergoing renovation so noise level in restaurant can get a bit steep. But the crew knocks off at 12 noon for an hour and this enabled us to enjoy our lunch--the best place in DC to enjoy lunch. This is a hidden gem. A neat luncheon concept. Has become my favorite. You will never leave unhappy. Staff is always attentive and professional."

"Have become a frequent diner here. Love to try their soups. Always terrific. Last night it was Cream of Asparagus. Extremely tasty. Would put it up against the soups of any 5-star restaurant. Tried the pork sliders which were excellent."

This grand Victorian saloon is on two levels, with four distinctive bars, including an oyster bar, and six dining rooms. Open for dinner til late in the evening, it is the perfect spot before or after a Verizon Center event, movie or the theatre, and is open for lunch and dinner daily, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.

"I really enjoy coming here before/after a Verizon Center event. It's away from the noisy crowds of Penn Quarter. Whenever I come here, I have their soup. In addition to their corn/crab chowder and French Onion Soup, they always have a soup of the day. And they are ALWAYS terrific--regardless of which one I order. ALWAYS consistently good. And whether you order a sandwich or an entree, you can't go wrong. The price is right, too."
