La Chaumiere is as close as it gets to dining in a French country inn. Now entering its 37th year, La Chaumiere features traditional dishes like escargots en coquille, boudin blanc, quenelles of pike, cassoulet and Grand Marnier souffle. Chef Patrick's specials reflect a modern approach to seasonal produce, seafood and game with favorites like baked oysters, Dover sole and rabbit. La Chaumiere has won the "100 Best Restaurants" award 29 times since 1978!

"Chaumiere has been a fixture in Georgetown for a long time. No wonder - the food is excellent, the service knowledgeable and good and the ambience fine. It will hopefully be around for many years to come. It is traditional French - they still have brains on menu! but they also have Dover sole, soft shell crabs in season with a divine sauce, soufflé, excellent steaks and much much more. We were there pre theater and our server was very respectful of our time constrains - actually he had to be slowed down a bit. A refound gem - we will return!"

"Grilled oyster is a great go-to place for a nice lunch with friends or a business lunch. Food is good, servings the right size and the servers most pleasant. It is fun in the evening as well. Their artichoke crab dip is superb and not to be missed. Oysters on the 1/2 shell are fresh and excellent. Enjoy!"

Degustation presents a provocative menu of Iberian, French and American influenced cuisine in a dynamic yet intimate bar setting, with an open kitchen. The local market inspired menu pairs beautifully with the hand selected wine offering.

"What a delightfully delicious find. I had no idea what to expect; did not expect such a tiny, eclectic place. We were fortunate to sit right in front of the chef in this counter only elegant establishment. Watching the chef and assistants was magical. The flavors set this restaurant apart from any other. Salt-roasted sun chokes were sublime, roasted to the perfect degree of doneness. A roasted parsnip - Yumm! Arctic char was beautifully prepared with exquisite flavors. My only minor complaint - the servers were not totally familiar with the food. It appeared they had not tasted it themselves - they should. The sommelier, on the other hand was a master at his cellar and we were the beneficiaries of his knowledge. Can't wait to go back!"

"The freshly made ricotta is not to be missed! It is smooth, flavorful and delicious. I had the scallops- beautifully served and perfectly seasoned. My husband had an appetizer of burrata- Yumm. The focaccia was perfect! The wine list and the sommelier are well informed and comprehensive. What's not to like?! The Michelin rosette is well earned and well deserved."

"Every bite is a culinary elegant adventure! The tastes are sublime - the lightest and smallest raviolis I have every encountered - and the service absolutely perfect. Servers are knowledgeable; appear at the moment of need seemingly via mental telepathy. The sommelier knows her stuff! She picked suggestions for us that were less expensive than we had for ourselves!! The servings were perfectly sized. We will be back! Though we may have to wait until our wallet replenishes a bit."

"I come to Central often for business dinners and lunch. The atmosphere is just right - not too fancy or too ordinary. Food is terrific - especially if you like sea food, for which they are known. They have specials every night - don't miss the Lobster Americaine if it is on the menu - outstanding! The appetizers can be shared or, are an excellent lunch on their own if you are not too hungry. Wine list is also very good as are wines by the glass. A winner all around!"

One of the finest restaurants in the capital and a recipient of five stars from Forbes Travel Guide, Plume serves as a discreet and elegant backdrop to the culinary artistry of our executive chef, Chris Jakubiec. Choose a cozy nook or a table by our inviting fireplace as you savor classic dishes expertly executed by Chef Jakubeic with lighter, contemporary finishing touches that appeal to today’s enlightened palates. Chef Jakubeic draws on the traditional techniques he mastered under the tutelage of Alain Ducasse in New York City, creating seasonal menus inspired by the fruits, vegetables and herbs grown in Thomas Jefferson’s gardens. Presided over by sommelier Michael Scaffidi, formerly of French Laundry, Plume’s wine list spans more than a dozen nationalities and dates back to a rare 1720 Borges Madeira. Among the more than 50 vintages are those Jefferson himself enjoyed in his time as well as newer wines he might select were he alive today.

"We had such a sublime evening! My husband and I are "foodies" for many years. We travel the world and find the best restaurants. Plume certainly fits in that category! The food was beautifully presented and exquisitely prepared. we had a wine paring dinner which was very well done. The sommelier was knowledgeable and interesting - he knows his wines! The setting is beautiful - what more can I say except you do have to save up for this special occasion."

"I have been to Tavira many times and am always pleased. This is a solidly excellent restaurant with a Portuguese theme. the seafood is perfectly prepared and the caprese style salad was excellent - even the tomatoes in March tasted like tomatoes. Our server was very knowledgeable about what was being prepared and for the one guest at the table who did not eat garlic, the kitchen was very flexible, preparing the dish exactly as she requested. This is also a pretty restaurant - if a bit old fashioned. Prices are reasonable and the evening was a delight!"

Erminia, opened in 1982, is New York City’s most romantic restaurant. Obtaining some of the Zagat Survey’s most highly rated scores for food, service and décor each year, the Roman influenced Italian food is second to none on the Upper East Side. Forbes Magazine twice selected Erminia as its number one Top Pick for food. Most diners agree that the original concoctions prepared here will win the hearts of all those who come to experience the fare. The Swiss Alps cabin-like atmosphere accents the rustic feel at Erminia.

"Erminia is superb!! We had the best time and the best food. The restaurant is small and intimate. wine list, while pricey, is broad and has choices from US, Italy and France. We found reasonably priced wines with the assistance of our waiter. The food is perfectly prepared. Dover sole was tender, flavorfull and elegant. The asparagus appetizer - baked and with a touch of honey was unique and most delicious. Can't wait to return!"

Over the years together, Wolfgang Ban and Eduard Frauneder have perfected their own modern take on Austrian cuisine - one which combines traditional techniques, contemporary innovations, and updates to some of their favorite childhood dishes. The team behind the prestigious private catering group, Elderberry Catering, chefs Ban and Frauneder, together with a small group of investors, have opened Seasonal Restaurant & Weinbar, their first venture open to the public. Their goal is to provide elegant home-cooking in a sleek but welcoming setting.

The chefs at Seasonal pride themselves on maintaining the utmost quality in their cuisine, and therefore, consistent with its name, the kitchen uses only the freshest seasonal ingredients. The visual presentation of each plate is the final step in the process, and the chefs have ensured that the look of each plate matches the refinement of the food itself and the décor, creating an unforgettable dining experience.

"My parents were from Vienna, Austria. the most special meal in the house was Wiener Schnitzel. Mama prepared it VERY well. Seasonal is as good or even better. They are as good as any Austrian Restaurant in Austria. And the Lingonberries aka Preiselberren along with cucumber salad is excellent. The service was knowledgeable and professional. And the wine list is most special and also unusual for the number and variety of excellent Austrian wines. We go to many fine restaurants in NY, Seasonal is always among them"
