Casual yet upscale neighborhood restaurant with dining on 2 floors, 2 bars & a lovely garden with koi pond & fountain. Eclectic American menu featuring tapas, soups, salads, pastas, steaks, chops, fresh fish & several vegetarian options. Conveniently located in the heart of Chelsea.

"Comfortable spacing between tables in the upstairs dining room makes this a good spot for catching up with old friends. The food is amazingly good for such a reasonably priced restaurant.
Special snapper over linguini was superb, as was the fried chicken. Excellent value for the price."

"Perfect location for a meal before going to a show. Haven't been to this former favorite for a few years. It has held up quite well. The menu is small, but well executed. You are in good hands here."

"First visit, chose it for location (pre-theater). Service was friendly and professional, a tough combination to manage. Ribs and salmon entrees were both superb, but broccoli was tough, and calamari appetizer just blah. Drinks were good sized for the price. All in all, I would go back."

Established in 1936, Monkey Bar was returned to its former glory in 2009 by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter. <br /><br />The dining room's lush red leather banquettes and dim, attractive lighting have restored the fizzy thrill of dining in a restaurant - both attractive and cozy - and harken back to a bygone era when a gentleman never left the house without a tie and a lady always had a pair of white gloves in her purse. <br /><br />Monkey Bar's menu boasts American classics alongside seasonal dishes using sustainable and organic products whenever possible.<br /><br />

"The room is fantastic. I would call it a New York treasure. It is an expensive restaurant (dinner for four at $100 a person when 2 people got hamburgers). Waiter was a little annoying, spilled water on the table, but only offer was did we want to move. Still, the ambience makes up for the rest."

A neighborhood bar restaurant occupying the space of a 1920’s bank. The décor is inspired by nineteenth century Parisian establishments. Terra Cotta textured walls, dimly lit chandelier’s, copper table tops & curved banquette seating create a very unique and intimate setting. <br />Executive Chef, John J. Loughran formerly of River Café in Brooklyn has created a menu that changes seasonally; using the best of locally sourced ingredients. Chef John’s philosophy, buy local and be creative. This is evident in every dish you taste at Banc Café. <br />Our cocktails are created using fresh fruit & natural ingredients.<br />We feel that tasty food & flavorful drinks provided with honest friendly service is a great way to win someone over. "Rainy Monday night, but the place was jumping. Perhaps the Happy Hour prices? Lots of people watching opportunities to go with the excellent food. Chopped salad was tasty and easy to eat, quesadilla more than enough for dinner. Service was efficient, although not particularly warm."
