Michel Richard's modern American brasserie,and winner of the 2008 James Beard award for best new restaurant is located on Penn. Ave NW between the White House and the Capitol. We serve Michel's tribute to great American cuisine, both modern and classic, with a French accent. A vibrant bar scene with boutique beer and wines, and modern and classic cocktails.

"We have eaten here 2 yrs in a row following our annual ski week. The food is terrific. Blue cheese chips, wedge salad, roast chicken, crab mashed potatoes, fingerling potatoes in duck fat, asparagus rissotto, tuna tartar, all just delicious. A big pre theater. (Jazz) group next to our cozy booth did not effect service or atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone in a suit OR upscale jeans! Sure to satisfy all."

"Yummy salads, great tuna tartar, cheese pizza is a winner, shrimp and grits a hit. This is just a terrific neighborhood gem. My only thought is you want to request front room if that suits you more. We've been fine in back room with a much larger group, but 4 or less table tops are more 'in the mix' out front."

Behind the wrought iron gate, past the herbaceous patio and through the atrium is Talula's Garden, the warm and elegant Washington Square eatery from Aimee Olexy and Starr Restaurants. The modern menu, prepared with carefully-sourced ingredients and a light European touch, changes with the seasons. The artful cuisine, hospitable staff, sustainable spirits, and a focus on cheese make the dining experience here incredibly memorable.

"I went here bc the reviews were so amazing. The food was fine. Highlight was the Califlower side dish. Trout was minute portion, maybe 2oz. The rough cut vegitables on which is sat were good, but not great. Some overcooked an d mushy, some too hard to the bite. Friend's stripped bass was well overcooked and very dry. This is perhaps getting hype and forgivness bc its the trend now that farm-to-table or locally sourced offereings are "allowed" to be a bit more rustic, almost like a home cook prepared the dish but I diagree. I am a trained chef and there are a lot of real basics missing here. I am thrilled I went bc the atmosphere is solid. I suspect if I was willing to return I might have a wonderful meal like so many others rave about."

"Once again we enjoyed our meal. Lobster pasta, veal Ragu, whole Bronzino and veal milanaise. All well prepared and seasoned. It would be improved if the waitor had not butchered the filet job on the Branzino. Lots of bones but still melt in mouth yummy. Flour less choc dessert was not as great as usual, but overall a nice night."

Bringing the best fried chicken and freshest farm ingredients from Florida and Georgia to the table since 2011, Yardbird has since garnered the praises of the James Beard Foundation as a semi-finalist for “Best New Restaurant South” and as one of Bon Appétit’s “50 Best New Restaurants” in 2012. Yardbird sticks to the values of tradition, family, and community with a menu of “soul-nurturing” dishes intended for sharing. A warm, comforting environment lets guests feel relaxed and at home while dining at Yardbird. Southern touches add to the nostalgia, like antique candlestick holders, wildflowers on all the tables, and handmade light fixtures outfitted with Edison bulbs in Mason jars.

"Great southern food. Fried chicken amazing. Shrimp and grits lovely. Bring back the cauliflower dish and the corn on he cob. Desserts looked terrific. All sound good food and terrific build out of space."

PISTACHE is a Parisian-style French bistro with a Mediterranean twist. It serves simple, delicious meals made with fresh, local and imported products. It seats 180 people and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Prices are moderate and the recipes nutritionally healthy. Service is casual and efficient. The atmosphere is upbeat with a definite European flair. The interior is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau, which defined most brasseries and bistros opened in 1920"s Paris. It boasts cozy seating with numerous red leather banquettes, a full bar and giant antique mirrors. The restaurant has a feel of "Always been there". It is classic, retro-modern and sophisticated but unpretentious. The outdoor patio overlooks Centennial Park, the Fountains and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is shaded with large umbrellas and seats 30 people in a Riviera-like setting.
