Stephen Starr brings his signature brand of hospitality and design to the nation’s capital with the opening of Le Diplomate, located at 14th & Q. Serving lunch, brunch and dinner, the stylish 260 seat restaurant transports diners to the beloved cafés of Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. The extensive menu features a variety of classic dishes including Onion Soup Gratinee, Steak Frites, and Poulet Roti as well as contemporary bistro fare, with dishes such as Shaved Veal Tongue with Mache and Bavette de Boeuf à l’Echalote. A thoughtfully curated wine list and cocktail program perfectly complements the cuisine and creates an environment suitable for romantic dinners or lively group gatherings. In warmer weather, enjoy dining "en plein air" in the stunning outdoor café where you can take in the bustling energy of DC while sipping on the perfect kir royale.

"We arrived early and enjoyed extraordinary service, a great table near an open window, a beautiful evening and perfect service! It is just one of those places we will visit over and over!! It does get noisy around 8:30p...when the younger crowd is in full flower!!"

Crawfish, a staple of Louisiana seafood, attracts thousands of visitors each year from all over the country to the region. The traditional Cajun way of serving crawfish is adding a special mix of homemade, southern style boil’s seasoning to a batch of crawfish. The boil is drained and dumped right onto the table. This style of food brings about a fun, social atmosphere for family and friends to gather during meal time. Add some beers and football and you have the perfect ingredients for a great time enjoyed by all. Our concept is centered around fun, friends, family and food. Utensils are discouraged. Getting hands on is encouraged. Crawfish are our mainstay, but we offer a good variety of seafood including shrimp, oysters, crab, and fish. Feel free to drop by anytime for to watch a game, enjoy good food and a few drinks!

'Owners Mark and Ty Neal--also behind D.C.'s Matchbox restaurants--named the joint after their father, a West Virginian who was the unofficial "cook of the neighborhood." The old-timey throwback feels… like the real deal here; art deco details, like carved marble door frames and metal air vents, are salvaged from the Philadelphia Civic Center circa 1928. Tables--salvaged former doors--are set with folded dish rags and a newspaper-like menu that features comfort food classics such as milkshakes, meatloaf and grilled cheese with tomato soup. Breakfast items such as short stack pancakes and home-made pop tarts are served all day. '- Lauren Sloat at Citysearch about 8th St location.

"Great looking restaurant! I was in for breakfast with a friend. I order the omelet which arrived looking and tasting like something warmed from the freezer. It came with two small links sausages and hash browns (no toast). I then ordered some cornbread...terrific!! I had ordered the hash browns dark and that they were...both bites. VERY small portion. So, perhaps the other meals are better...but, skip breakfast there."
