"We brought my mom here for a surprise birthday party with 15 of her friends. The restaurant was very helpful with the changing reservation (from 12 to 16 to 15), and was incredibly friendly to my mom and to her guests. The food was outstanding, and we had a beautiful view. It was a great day!"

"We came for my husband's birthday, and it was a fantastic evening. The food was outstanding, and my husband (and all our guests) loved the different cuts of meat. The salad bar is fresh and delightful, and the cheese popovers are addictive. Our service was gracious and attentive, and they stuck a candle in my husband's creme brulee with a little raspberry syrup sign that read "happy birthday." And a happy birthday it was, indeed!"

Stephen Starr brings his signature brand of hospitality and design to the nation’s capital with the opening of Le Diplomate, located at 14th & Q. Serving lunch, brunch and dinner, the stylish 260 seat restaurant transports diners to the beloved cafés of Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. The extensive menu features a variety of classic dishes including Onion Soup Gratinee, Steak Frites, and Poulet Roti as well as contemporary bistro fare, with dishes such as Shaved Veal Tongue with Mache and Bavette de Boeuf à l’Echalote. A thoughtfully curated wine list and cocktail program perfectly complements the cuisine and creates an environment suitable for romantic dinners or lively group gatherings. In warmer weather, enjoy dining "en plein air" in the stunning outdoor café where you can take in the bustling energy of DC while sipping on the perfect kir royale.

"We had to book brunch 3 weeks in advance, and I thought there was no way Le Diplomate could live up to the hype. But the food was fantastic, the service attentive, and the ambience authentically French."

"We had a great time with excellent food. Got a collection of seafood and fresh vegetable pasta, and the cocktails were excellent. A bit loud for a big group (we were 5, but I don't think I'd want to go if over 6 people) but otherwise excellent."

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.

"My friend and I went before a play for a 5:15 reservation. We were interested in the pre-theater menu, but it wasn't available on Fridays, because apparently no one goes to the theater on Fridays. We ended up spending $40 each for food and left still hungry. While the food was good, I miss the Jaleo of yesteryear, where I could get a filling meal and tasty dessert for less than the surrounding restaurants. I wish we had just gone to Brasserie Beck."
