"We had a great time with excellent food. Got a collection of seafood and fresh vegetable pasta, and the cocktails were excellent. A bit loud for a big group (we were 5, but I don't think I'd want to go if over 6 people) but otherwise excellent."

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef José Andrés. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, as well as savory paellas, superb sangrias and a fine selection of Spanish wines and Sherries in a festive, casual atmosphere.

"My friend and I went before a play for a 5:15 reservation. We were interested in the pre-theater menu, but it wasn't available on Fridays, because apparently no one goes to the theater on Fridays. We ended up spending $40 each for food and left still hungry. While the food was good, I miss the Jaleo of yesteryear, where I could get a filling meal and tasty dessert for less than the surrounding restaurants. I wish we had just gone to Brasserie Beck."

Eatonville is the premier southern food restaurant in the city offering both traditional and non-traditional southern dishes. Sited in the historic U Street Corridor, the restaurant highlights Zora Neale Hurston's strong connection to Washington DC.

"We had brunch with a big group, including a young (2 year old) child. The restaurant was very friendly and accommodating, and the color and big room gave the kid plenty of scope for the imagination, so he was very happy. The service was attentive, although they were kind of rushing us towards the end, as they were getting very busy (never effective when eating with Europeans). The food was good but very salty--everyone commented on how salty their food was. But the menu is imaginative, and we had a good time."

Bistro d'OC is a casual French restaurant located in downtown DC. We serve specialties from the Languedoc region of France, as well as typical French bistro fare. We are family-owned and operated, and serve high quality food at a moderate price.

"My friends and I went to Bistro D'Oc for a pre-movie Saturday night dinner. We had a fantastic time! The food was outstanding--we ate, between us, the lamb brains, sweetbreads, and rillette, followed by the venison, rack of lamb, mussels, and the stew (I can't think of the name right now but it has beans and is cooked in lard and is fantastic). Every dish inspired food envy, the wait staff was incredibly attentive and patient, and we had an incredible night. The food is also extremely authentic, and my husband (who is French) really appreciated the emphasis on a regional cuisine that's of humble origins."
