"This is a really nice local restaurant, not touristy at all. Very reasonable prices (for the area). Service was excellent. Staff from managers to busboys was excellent. I plan to put this place in the regular rotation."

Chef Martin Lackovic, formerly of Galileo, I Matti and The Caucus Room, opens Siroc Restaurant on McPherson Square with brothers Keram and Mehdi Dris, who run the front of the house. Siroc's seasonal menu features cooking inspired by Italy and the Mediterranean with housemade pastas, charcuterie, salads and entrées. The new restaurant takes its name from a wind that blows from northern Africa to Italy and the Mediterranean.

"I had not been to Siroc in quite some time- I was pleased to see that they had put in a bar sometime in the past year. As usual the food was very good (fresh black bass special) although the sweetbreads prep was odd (they should have been trimmed better). I was pleased to see that the waitstaff was stable, service from hostess to waitress to buss(person) was great; the entire experience was excellent. we ate outside on the sidewalk on a beautiful night overlooking the Square and the server knew that we wanted a leisurely meal so she timed her visits well.
Excellent value on food, drinks, wine by the glass. You can have Café Milano, I will take Siroc!"

Vermilion features Chef William Morris' menu of Contemporary American cuisine. Complimenting Chef Morris' menu is Vermilion's wine list, named one of the top wine lists in the country by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine. Combining a charming location in Old town Alexandria with stylized design and atmosphere, Vermilion represents a bit of downtown sophistication: from the exposed brick in the upstairs dining room to the overstuffed pillows in the lounge downstairs, Vermilion holds something for all tastes.

"I have been here several times and find the menu to be terrific- I have a hard time choosing because everything sounds great. The sauces and combinations are excellent (I had the lamb loin). Service was good, and the place has a nice buzz to it.
Oddly, the food arrived cooked to order (as specified) but was barely warm. As we were dining at a leisurely pace (over 2 hours) I was starving and did not want to send it back.
I should have complained and will not hold it against them. Definitely worth a visit."
