Ajay's Reviews

A classic American gathering place, the District Chophouse & Brewery is conveniently located 1/2 block South of The Verizon Center. We pride ourselves in serving the city's finest handcrafted beers and succulent steaks, mouthwatering chops, tasty seafood, and over-sized salads. Once you've eaten here, you'll agree the 'DC' stands for District Chophouse.

"The District Chophouse looks great, with nice woodwork throughout the restaurant. The food, while the menu is limited in terms of variety of seafood options, is good.
It just doesn't have the service level a steakhouse at its price point should have. There are better places right in Penn Quarter. However, any restaurant that serves a good NY Strip is worth a second try at least - hence the 3 stars."

Proof is a wine-centric restaurant serving Modern American cuisine.

The casual, elegant feel to this Penn Quarter destination is reflected throughout Executive Chef Haidar Karoum’s menu. Proof showcases the best local, organic and sustainable ingredients in clean, beautiful preparations, an extensive international selection of cheese and charcuterie, as well as a wine list containing over 40 by-the-glass selections and 1,000 different bottles.
"Enjoyed the restaurant - good wine and good food. I enjoyed the simplicity of the menu. The wine list is good, better than average - however, expensive. I also don't understand the 2 oz pour option of wine?
Still, this is a nice restaurant to keep in mind as a treat, because this is a bit expensive."

"This restaurant is split among many levels and benefits from being within one of those hotels where the room ring around a large open space. There is a (man made) wadding pond and several tables have a view of the pond. The ambiance is nice, but some tables are out in the open and have really no privacy. There are a few that will - if you are on a romantic date, plan accordingly.
The food is good and with small plates, portion control is easy. With their concept of ordering 3, 4, or 5 items, its almost like a price fixe menu."

The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.
Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown.

Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include being named “#1 Best Seafood Restaurant” in a nationwide poll by USA Today (2013).

"The Seafood and the Service makes this a Special place. I had the lettuce-wrapped beef appetizer and the lunch portion spicy tuna and they hit the mark. I always wonder about beef at seafood restaurants, but this was delightful and 'right-sized'. Appetizers that rival the main course in portion size is literally more than desired. The tuna was indeed spicy. Even better, was the attentive service by all of the staff, especially our server, Amma. If you go, ask for her."
