Havana Central transports you to pre-Revolution Cuba with swanky decor, lively jazz, relaxing bar and beloved recipes. Traditional Cuban cooking is a labor of love: many dishes are slow-cooked over low heat and require constant attention to create that perfect flavor. Executive Chef Stanley Licairac has mastered the patience and style necessary to recreate old-world Cuban classics.

"...with very decent food. Nothing we ate was a foodie's delight, but it all was good. We enjoyed the live music -- this felt like a party we happened to drop in on. The mojito was one of the best I've ever had."

At King and Duke, we showcase locally sourced ingredients through simple, yet focused hearth cooking. Our goal is not to manipulate food, but to accentuate the natural flavors of our products through slower methods of cooking and the smoke of the wood fire. Through this primitive technique, constantly moving and manipulating the live fire, we invest exacting attention to the preparation of each and every dish.

Our managing partner, Ford Fry, named the restaurant after two characters in Huckleberry Finn, “The King” and “The Duke," a pair of grifters who ‘put on airs’ and pretended to be royalty, when in fact they were a couple of hillbillies who lived in the woods. With our slightly mischievous ways ☺, a huge focus on quality, yet a primitive cooking style and down-to earth atmosphere, Chef Fry felt like it was the perfect name for our newest restaurant.

"Four of us (from NY) ate in the outdoor space. Perfect. The popovers were wonderful. Salmon, pork chop, burger with fries, all excellent. And while the service was professional, they get a de-merit for starting to remove dishes while two of us were still eating. That's a no-no for a high-end restaurant, especially since, on an early Sunday evening, the place was less then half full."

Lola Restaurant comfortably integrates white linen elegance with a fresh and innovative “New American” cuisine that is perfectly prepared and impeccably served. Strong Asian and French influences inspire the contemporary and eclectic culinary style of Chef Michael Ginor and make for a unique dining experience. Lola is dressed up as a special occasion restaurant inspired by New York City hotspots, but is sociable and affordable enough for every occasion. A full bar, comprehensive wine list and fine selection of mouth-watering desserts will complete your meal, all while the atmosphere and décor transport you to the heart of New York City without leaving the Island. Owner and Chef Michael Ginor personally attends to every detail to ensure that your dining experience is superb. It enjoys a dedicated following of appreciative diners from Long Island and New York City.

The team from Tamarind, in the Flatiron District, have opened a new restaurant in Tribeca. Tamarind's team of dedicated chef's draw on India's varied regions to take diners on a culinary voyage of the subcontinent. The restaurant's menu includes dishes from Punjab, Hyderabad, Goa, Madras, Lucknow, and Calcutta. India's assertive spices and seasonings distinguish its cooking from all others.

"The answer is yes, if you want a pampered evening in a stylish setting that is not typical of Indian food joints in NYC. The food is quite good, but at least for what we sampled, not noticeably above other good resto's with similar offerings. (The marinated lamb was delicious.) In other words, if you care about value, look elsewhere. Come here to impress someone."

Derived from the Hindi word meaning passion, Junoon delivers on the promise of its moniker with an authentic, yet elegantly modern take on Indian cuisine. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj, inspired by his deep affinity and commitment to the food and culture of his native India, has assembled a talented team, who share his same vision including celebrated chef and cookbook author, Vikas Khanna, helming Junoon's kitchen as Executive Chef.

Don't forget to peak into Junnon's one-of-a-kind Spice Room where an array of fresh spices are ground daily and made into a unique blend to be used in the marinades and sauces for the day.

"Service was outstanding, décor and setting are clearly a step above most Indian restaurants. An app called Lamb "kebob" ($20) was really a plated, beautifully presented dish of several pieces of perfectly cooked, tender meat, with no kabob skewer in sight. That was the highlight dish. Other dishes were all fine, but in light of the prices ($14 for dal, $26 for mediocre chicken biryani) we expected mind-blowing food. Go here if you want to impress a date or a client. Go elsewhere if you just want good Indian food at reasonable prices."

"Some folks here were dressed to impress, others were in jeans and sneakers. It's a fun mix, but the food is the reason to get a rez. We were pleasantly surprised that the Chicken Under a Brick is available in a half portion, so my wife and I were able to try that (which a NY Times review said was the best dish here) and the black bass. Both were excellent, but the chicken will not blow your mind as I had hoped. Two pastas starters, one a special with white truffles, were both outstanding."

"Four of us went here partly because of a NY Times recommendation about the weiner schnitzel. Overall, it's a fun place and it's fine if you are in the neighborhood. But the schnitzel was disappointing -- it was nicely prepared but my piece was full of gristle and difficult to eat."

"We have dined here several times. It is not high end food, but almost everything we've tried has been good or very good -- and you really can't go wrong with their perfectly grilled, always fresh, whole fish. But this time my wife ordered the lemon-chicken soup, and I'm sorry to say it was a tasteless, gloppy mess. We tried adding salt, then pepper, but nothing helped. So stay away from that, enjoy their other fine dishes, and you'll have a pleasant time."
