Sycamore is a seasonally inspired, chef-owned neighborhood bistro in Newton Centre. Emphasizing locally sourced produce, fish and meat, our menu draws on classic European country food; rustic and wholesome. Our beverage program is designed to complement the cuisine. The wine list focuses on passionate small producers, our beers are by and large domestic craft selections and the cocktail list highlights classic drinks and sipping spirits.

"There is a reason it is so hard to get a reservation here. The food is excellent. Dishes are interesting without being pretentious. Service is consistent with the quality of the food."

What does creative casual cuisine mean?
Exactly what it says. We’re creative, because we reject the same-old-same-old in favor of tastes that are interesting and unique. We’re casual because while our food may be worth getting dressed up for, we invite you to come as you are. We’re all about cuisine in the sense that our chefs apply high standards of culinary art.
There it is. Creative. Casual. Cuisine. If it sounds like your kind of place, then you – like us- are not your average Joe.

"While not a fine dining restaurant NYAJ's are consistent, reliable and a good value. The food is creative and always good. Servers are consistently well-trained across all of their restaurants. The value is good for their ample portions. Be aware that service is fast for a full service restaurant. They turn tables quickly."

"We have eaten here a number of times and keep returning. We enjoy Maxwells' fusion approach to his food. Service is always excellent. It is a white table dining experience with a number of different seating configurations."

"Great location on the harbor. Outdoor patio is winterized and very comfortable. "Bag of Doughnuts" is one of the best appetizers ever! Fish dishes were very good. Wait staff was attentive. Water glasses never empty."

East Coast Grill brings high level big, bold flavors with live fire grilled seafood and Low & Slow BBQ in a fun casual atmosphere. Highlighted by its open kitchen, full raw bar and funky décor; it remains a corner stone of the Greater Boston after 25 years!! The theory here is that the closer one gets to the equator, the more flavor there is in the food. Expect the chile-fueled heat of the Caribbean, the grill-savvy of Latin American cuisine, and the dynamism of Asia when you order from the regionally inspired menu. Our Brunch Bloody Mary bar has garnered quite the following of hard-core Bloody Mary enthusiasts. Drop by for Brunch (Sundays), Lunch (Saturdays), Dinner 7 days a week or for our late-nite snacks, raw bar and cocktails (Thursday through Saturday starting October 17th).

Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated, so, please, come on in!

Parties of 8 or more, please call to make a reservation.
"Why do restaurants feel they have to have ingredients no one understands? It is really a limited menu. Squid, octopus and calamari is not a great choice. Small plates are small. Hamburger seemed to be decent size. Wine poor was meager. Food was good, even though we were not sure what we were eating. We are not rushing back."
