North River is a restaurant in New York City's East Village serving modern New York State fare. Named for the Hudson—the waterway that for so long, has brought so much worth eating to New York City—North River pulls the very best produce, dairy, fish, and meat from our neighbors and turns it into dinner nightly. (And into brunch on the weekends.)

Our cocktails are rooted in American classics from a simpler time, but have modern elements, shaken and stirred to impress and/or intoxicate. There is beer and wine too.

Our dining room is casual and our service educated, a balance we look to strike in all things we do.
"The food here is good, not great. It's a fine place for a pleasant meal. The service was very pleasant but a little slow."

We aim to recreate Turkish food as it is found in Turkey, right here in the heart of New York City by combining the freshest of ingredients with recipes that have withstood the taste test of time. As each of our dishes is prepared with special care, our menu is simple; we prefer quality over quantity.

"The food at this place isn't great, but it is good, and the prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for a quick, relatively cheap meal, it's a good pick."

"Everything was tasty. I think that it was a little bit pricey given the quality of the food, but not terribly out of line."

"This place serves conventional Italian food. The service was exceptionally pleasant and helpful, but the food itself was just okay."

Chef Michael Psilakis and partner Donatella Arpaia have moved their rustic Greek gem, Kefi, to a larger space at 505 Columbus Avenue. The new, 200-seat interior evokes the feeling of a palatial Greek hideaway broken up into several smaller dining rooms to keep Kefi’s intimate appeal.

The menu of favorites straight from Psilakis’ childhood will remain the same with some new additions. Signature dishes like Baccala, crispy-fried cod with garlic potatoes and tomato, Grilled Octopus with bean salad, and Hilopita, baked pasta with rabbit ragout and béchamel are still on offer. Additions include Grilled Sardines with chopped “Greek Salad” and garlic sauce, Macaronia Spestofai, tubular pasta with Greek sausage, peppers, onions, tomato and feta and an entirely new section of Greek Sandwiches featuring house-made sausages and pork and lamb gyro.

"Nothing fancy here--just good-sized portions of hearty and tasty food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're on a tight budget."

"Very tasty and interesting tapas, the chorizo was especially good. The place is fun and noisy. It’s as much a bar that serves really good food than a restaurant (e.g., the seating was stools rather than chairs with backs), and given that I’m not a drinker, I’m not likely to go back."
