Barnyard is an intimate, neighborhood restaurant by Chef Jesse Barber. Bringing a soulful menu of small and shared plates, small-production beers and naturally farmed wines to Venice.

Known for his mastery of seafood and respect for seasonal produce, Barber cooks with a nod to classical French and Japanese techniques. House-made sausages, slow-cooked stocks and seasonal produce are meticulously cared for; the quality refelects Barber's training under Thomas Keller, at French Laundry and Bouchon.

As the opening Chef de Cuisine at The Tasting Kitchen in Venice, Jesse led a troupe of talented, young professionals on a journey that involved late nights, early mornings and loads of commitment to their culinary craft. They transformed the space from near bankruptcy into one of GQ's “Top 10 Restaurants in America” and nominee for three James Beard Awards.

"I expect more when paying $75 per person for brunch. Truffle eggs were oily, my husband's omelette was dry, the buratta was tasteless served with unripe melon. Brunch meals aren't even that complicated!"

Short order is a celebration of over thirty years of friendship and culinary collaboration between Amy Pressman and Nancy Silverton. Highlighting their shared passion of bringing the best seasonal ingredients to the table, each menu item at Short order is crafted emphasizing locally raised, organic, artisanal and handmade products. This restaurant is Amy and Nancy’s showcase for foods prepared the way they personally love to eat. Short Order represents their comfort in the simplicity of cooking as they would in their own homes.

"Turkey burgers were dry and salads flavorless. Our friend with the short ribs was the happiest guy at our table. They had run out of red wine and rose."
