Belga cafe is a great place to eat typical Belgian cuisine. Combining an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, light and healthy interesting food. Belga Cafe is a little bit of Brussels on the Hill, with an open kitchen and a sidewalk cafe.
"I've been a regular at Belga for about 5 years or so, dining there at least a half-dozen times per year, whether for brunch, lunch or dinner. While Bart has incorporated many "special" weeks of menus, they always seem a bit overpriced to me and I generally skip them. The real problem is that I think the standard menu is getting old. Beef carbonade can be good, but gets boring after selecting it several times. This last time (lunch Friday) the carbonade was really nothing special at all. The red cabbage it came with lacked zing, and the beef, while tender, was really nothing to write home about. Et les frites!! Come on, Bart! Surely a Belgian resto can do better with their frites. Mine were alternatively soggy or on the verge of burnt -- disappointing, to say the least.
Nothing particularly Belgian about roast chicken, etc. Time for a bit more creativity, Bart!! Please change the menu by adding some more interesting main courses, and please do a better job of overseeing the kitchen. The appetizers are pretty good as is, though again, a bit on the expensive side. Overall, getting tired of the same old same old at Belga. Sadly, the glow has faded."
