Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Today, we hope you will enjoy your own celebration as you dine at Kokkari Estiatorio on food “fit for the Gods” prepared with an Aegean palate and the style of innovative California fare.

"The enormous charm of our server elevated the experience. The food we ate was simple (orange salad, rotisserie chicken) and delicious."

The Main Dining Room features a stunning view of the bay from every table. For those who prefer al fresco dining our Inside Out Room is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or get together among friends next to the cozy fireplace. A custom-built wood fired grill and a large wood burning oven serve as the focal points of Kuleto's design for the restaurant.

The menu features an inventive combination of traditional and contemporary dishes, showcasing everything from fish to fowl, and specializing in a variety of meats and steaks. Handmade cocktails, domestic and imported beers, and a well-selected wine list complement the menu.

"The server was professional, but not particularly interested in us. No one checked with us after the food arrived. Sadly, the eggs were badly undercooked - raw egg whites are not to my taste. We finally got the dish replaced, but the server acted like it was our fault. Hot water for tea and coffee refills were slow. Despite that, the place is comfortable, the view perfect - we'll try again."

"The best thing - they were open for breakfast on Christmas day. The muffin was under baked, the eggs were undercooked, and after I said I was allergic to bell peppers, I was served potatoes with bell peppers. The place is in a time warp, but not that amusing."

the concept Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace. the food Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together. the wine We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability. Please ask your server for recommendations on how any of our 40+ wines by the glass match up with your selections. Bon Appètit!
