Kin Shop is a contemporary Thai restaurant opened by Chef Harold Dieterle and Alicia Nosenzo. The duo chose the name, Kin Shop, because “kin,” is the Thai word for “to eat” and the restaurant is the “kin” to their acclaimed restaurant Perilla, a mere seven-minute walk away.

Kin Shop’s menu features both contemporary reinterpretations of traditional Thai dishes and wholly new items inspired by Thai ingredients. Complementing Kin Shop’s menu (which is meant to be shared), are Thai-influenced specialty cocktails, a 75-label, spice-friendly international wine list with many bottles priced under $50, and a diverse globe-spanning selection of beers, many from small, craft producers.

The casual, but polished setting features comfortable banquettes, a long granite bar, and a chef’s counter for walk-in dining with a front-row view.

Chef Michael Psilakis and partner Donatella Arpaia have moved their rustic Greek gem, Kefi, to a larger space at 505 Columbus Avenue. The new, 200-seat interior evokes the feeling of a palatial Greek hideaway broken up into several smaller dining rooms to keep Kefi’s intimate appeal.

The menu of favorites straight from Psilakis’ childhood will remain the same with some new additions. Signature dishes like Baccala, crispy-fried cod with garlic potatoes and tomato, Grilled Octopus with bean salad, and Hilopita, baked pasta with rabbit ragout and béchamel are still on offer. Additions include Grilled Sardines with chopped “Greek Salad” and garlic sauce, Macaronia Spestofai, tubular pasta with Greek sausage, peppers, onions, tomato and feta and an entirely new section of Greek Sandwiches featuring house-made sausages and pork and lamb gyro.

"Our Kefi brunch was refreshingly calm compared to the boisterous evenings we've spent there for dinner. And 1/2 price drinks can't be beat!"

Piora, which means “to blossom” in Korean, is the collaboration between proprietor Simon Kim and Chef Christopher Cipollone that pays homage to their Korean and Italian heritages and reflects their passion for creating dining experiences that are refined yet unexpected. Cipollone’s delicately presented Modern American dishes capture the robust flavors of the season’s ingredients. Composed by Sommelier Kyle Ridington, Piora’s extensive 300 label wine list is constantly evolving with a concentration in small production wines from primarily France, Italy and United States. Nestled in the West Village on Hudson Street, Piora’s intimate dining room, featuring leather tables and unpolished marble, overlooks a serene private garden.
A great meal is not just about the food and wine. A great meal is not just one that fills you up. A great meal opens up your senses and introduces you to new tastes. What we choose to do at Vai is take the simple act of eating, an ordinary activity, and make it extraordinary. Our staff will make your visit an amazing experience. Vai, which means "go" in Italian, is a beautiful space, warm atmosphere, filled with people who care. We will treat you as a guest in our home. Sit, relax, breathe...let us take care of you. Let us create a memory.

"Live music at brunch - awesome! Saxaphone blaring in a small space with less-than-ideal acoustics - NOT awesome."

"Delicious octopus appetizer and can't beat $1 oysters (blue points only, but still) from 4pm-close at the bar! The fresh fettucini with bolognese was yummy, but a little bland. Good overall and worth going back. Nothing special, but a solid neighborhood joint."
