"My husband and I had dinner at Bistro Vivant on a Saturday evening just after 8:00pm. It was moderately busy (as opposed to bustling/packed), which we didn't mind and made for a really pleasurable experience. Love that it's in the neighborhood in "downtown" McLean and privately owned. The food was delicious, the service just right, and the ambiance lovely. The owner makes a point to walk through and stop at tables to chat and make sure everything is to your satisfaction; it's not affected or just going through the motions, but rather sincere and genuine. I like those little touches and it lets me know they care.
We had the French Onion soup and Steak Tartare for starters. I'm not a big raw meat eater so I had the soup, which was quite good, but I had a taste of the beautifully prepared tartare - it was fabulous and I've already decided what I'll order on our next visit! For dinner, I had the cassoulet special, which was very good and heartier than I initially thought, so I was quite full by the time we left. My husband had the Atlantic Salmon and he also enjoyed his meal. Overall, we had a lovely time and are looking forward to going back!"

BRIO (meaning "lively" or "full of life") is a "polished casual" restaurant serving authentic, northern Italian cuisine. The subtitle, "Tuscan Grille" is descriptive for a menu that features oven-roasted steaks, chops, and seafood; similar to what one would find in an authentic ristorante in Tuscany. BRIO's philosophy of "to eat well, is to live well" is why they only use the finest and freshest ingredients. BRIO brings the pleasure of a Tuscan country villa to the American city. "Love Brio's - rarely disappoints, service was great, atmosphere was really nice considering it's in a mall, and their menu selection is always good. We almost ALWAYS get the lobster bisque - bar none, the best around and especially from a "value for money" perspective. We tried their new shrimp bruschetta... OMG, next time I'm getting that as my main course, after the lobster bisque of course! Our main courses were very tasty and flavorful - I had a salmon dish w/sweet potatoes and hubby had the chicken under the brick. And, the last couple of years they started taking reservations - yay!"

Lebanese Taverna creates an environment where good food is enjoyed in good company. Each restaurant is a "home away from home," even though the food and ambiance are from across the globe. Whether you are visiting for the first time, the twentieth, or have been coming to a Lebanese Taverna for over 35 years, you will feel welcomed and like a member of the family. The atmosphere is bustling and each of the restaurants has its own design and slightly different flavors. That is because the food is made fresh.

"Met a friend there who wanted middle-eastern food - we had later reservations around 8:45pm and there was no problem. Some restaurants get annoyed when you come in after 8:00 on a week night... I don't usually go to middle-eastern restaurants because none beat my mom's cooking, but when I need to, my first choice is Lebanese Taverna! They have a great menu selection, everything I've ever ordered (usually mazza dishes to share with all) including on this visit is and has been quite good. They prepare and cook the food as it should be and don't "water it down" to accommodate the non-adventurist folks or those who are afraid of spices that they have never either heard of or are afraid to try. The one negative or criticism I have is that the pita bread drys out/hardens kinda quickly...
We really enjoyed ourselves and the staff was great - from the very welcoming host to the servers, they made us feel special and were very accommodating! I can't remember the name of our particular server (it's been a couple of weeks), but he was just lovely - very professional, attentive, and friendly towards us!"

"Ayse Meze was an interesting mix of Greek and Turkish food, which is similar in some ways to Middle-Eastern food. We really enjoyed the food and because the majority of dishes are "tapas" style (Meze/Mazza means small appetizer dishes), we definitely ordered too many for just me and my husband!
We didn't bother with the dips because we get many of those regularly and nothing beats mom's cooking! We ordered Sucuk Pide (traditional beef sausage), Mousaka (eggplant/meat), Kalamar, Kakavia (shrimp), Midye (mussels), mixed olives, and I think a couple more dishes... We thoroughly enjoyed everything and we would definitely go back! We love it when chefs aren't afraid to use spices, herbs, etc, to flavor foods as they should be for a cuisine type rather than to tone down or bland out dishes to try to accommodate the mild non-adventurous diner. After all, that is in part, the point of trying different ethnic foods! The staff was super friendly and we enjoyed some short interesting conversations as we finished up our evening."

"We absolutely loved the brunch at The Wine Kitchen! We opted for their $26 brunch special that allows you to each select any three items from the majority of the menu, including their brunch cocktails. The portions are small-medium sized, but were definitely sufficient as we opted for food for our choice rather than a drink... Service was great, the atmosphere was comfortable and even though it was January, we still had a nice view of the Carroll Creek Park area. The presentation of every dish was exquisite and mostly tasted heavenly! We will definitely go back! Just a few minor observations listed below kept me from giving the food a full 5 stars, but it was close.
I ordered the Charcuterie consisting of pate w/egg (more firm), pate w/hint of duck fat (more creamy), marinated cherries, marinated red onions, red onion jam, pickled carrots, luscious grain mustard, and Spanish Chorizo, all served with long strips of lightly toasted bread. Probably my favorite, IF I have to choose one.. Two salads: 1) Hubby enjoyed a Baby beet salad w/arugula/ apple/walnuts/cider vinaigrette/mascarpone mousse; Me - Romaine salad w/heart of palms, pine nuts, parm & smoked trout, which I also enjoyed - it was mildly flavored and the trout was tasty, but I would have liked a bit more trout for more flavoring. I had the most magnificent Crab Cake Benedict I have ever had - perfectly poached eggs at just the right runniness - I really can't say enough about that! The Hollandaise sauce was almost perfect - just a tad on the salty side... Hubby had the Cornmeal Pancakes w/huckleberries & whipped cream, which he tore up in no time. He also had the Mini Tuna Tartar Tacos, which he enjoyed, but said they weren't anything too special.
We would love to try their dinner some time and if it's anything like their brunch, I'm sure we won't be disappointed!"
