Originally founded in 1893, Schroeder’s longstanding history has made the Bavarian inspired beer hall a favorite of San Francisco for the past 120 years. With a new page beginning in Schroeder’s history, the restaurant is reinventing the way San Francisco views German Fare. Chef Manfred Wrembel’s passion for the cuisine of his ancestry and love of California’s seasonal styling is embodied in the dishes he creates. The restaurant’s décor pays homage to its Bavarian Heritage with Herman Richter murals, Historical Wall of Steins, and the original millwork throughout. A rosewood bar stretching the length of the beer hall with 22 German beers on tap is sure to captivate the thirsty. Prost!

Indigo offers an exciting California - New American menu featuring the best quality local and seasonal ingredients. Their Ten-Time Wine Spectator Award wine list offers many value oriented wines as well as hard to find gems. They also have NO Corkage Fee! The setting is warm, comfortable and elegant.

"A great place to have a good meal ahead of a performance at the Opera House. Staff is friendly efficient, food very good and it's hard to beat the location."

Absinthe Brasserie & Bar is one of the longest-running and most convivial dining institutions in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood. Located within walking distance of Civic Center and the performing arts centers, the establishment features French and Northern Italian-influenced brasserie fare for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Absinthe’s lively bar offers classic and creative cocktails and late-night dining. <br />

"I really like the food at Absinthe, but am confused by the combination of the brasserie atmosphere and the wine list. The list includes excellent Burgundies and other wines, but they may not be in many people's price range, particularly for a meal before a performance. I'd like to see more on the list in the $80-100 range. I'd advise diners to consult the sommelier -- the list is not only a difficult one, but it is very long and he is very helpful."
