Opened late June 2012, Macchialina Taverna, located at 820 Alton Road in the heart of South Beach's residential west side, has quickly become a favorite among critics, locals and in-the-know tourists who flock to the casual neighborhood eatery to indulge in chef/owner MichaelPirolo's rustic Italian fare. From the start, Macchialina has been racking up accolades such as a 3.5 star Excellent rating from The Miami Herald, Best Restaurant 2013 from the Miami New Times "Best Of" Edition as well as a stellar review from the same paper, Pirolo and his team at Macchialina are taking the city by storm.

"all the flavors were very good. the Italian Dim Sum,wasnt as smooth as expected ,but none he less enjoyable

"oftentimes,going too soon to a new place is sub-optimal. not so in this case. Most important is flavors,and to that end apps./cocktail/mains all surprisingly good. especially "The Jerk" OMG !! a taste-gasm ! usually try offerings of brussell sprouts as a challenge,which usually falls flat. their brussell sprout/kale side is one of the best i/we"ve experienced as foodies,of the Dade/Broward/Palm Beach tri-county area.
servers seemed a tad inexperience if not slightly overmatched. also decor & music need(in the words of Emmeril)to kick it up a notch.and pray the location with the construction around it doesn't obscure it.
BUT !!! oh those flavors should give this place strong & loyal following

""Gourmet dining" doesn't due it justice.
Brings to mind people who play golf and say "yeah I play,just wish I were way better"
I love to cook , but a meal like this makes me feel like a hack golfer who's seen one of the best in the world ply their trade !

A funky local vibe with great comfort food from original and eclectic burgers to fantastic healthy salads, creative sandwiches, mouthwatering sides, and starters. We are looking to incorporate as many local and sustainable items on our menu as possible and running weekly and monthly specials to keep your curiosity attentive. We will carry an impressive list of craft beers, wines, and cocktails, again, trying to carry and utilize as much local product as possible. Our menu will give our advice and motive on beverage pairings with every menu item. Our bartenders will be mixologists with a high energy charismatic attitude. Our servers will be every diner’s best friend, full of knowledge to help guide customers to the perfect choice for maximum enjoyment. The Filling Station will be about a fun atmosphere, amazing service, and rockstar mind-blowing product.

"appreciate the spirit of the effort. but semi-obscure parcel in a restaurant dense area. nothing exceptionally good or bad.
(though most servers seemed newbies) basically felt like middle of the road sports bar. for the beer connoisseur,there's several better options close by. & in the vein of "upscaling" burgers ,nice effort,but no "wow" factor.
hoping for their success,but not placing any bets toward longevity.
